20 Minute Yoga for Olympic Lifters | Chest and Shoulder Mobility

Ойын-сауық

This twenty minute yoga for Olympic lifters focuses on chest and shoulder mobility. I suggest practicing this a few times per week and track your lifts with a photo or a video over the course of a month to see if you've developed increase mobility. Increased mobility in the chest and shoulder area should be helpful to your cleans, clean and jerks, and snatch lifts. Give it a try and let me know how it goes down in the comments below and feel free to share with other fellow Olympic lifters who could use a little yoga in their lives! As always, work within a pain-free range.

I've been lifting weights for a few years now and just recently got into Olympic Weight Lifting. My mobility and flexibility has always been awful but thanks to this video and your many others, I've seen vast improvements over the past 6 months. I'm slowly realizing my full potential in the gym and in daily life. I recommend you and your channel to everybody at the gym that I train at. I can't begin to express my gratitude to you Candace, thank you.

Hey Candace, this is a great sequence. I really dig your style. Strong, serene, and serious - traits that are not so easy to find in online yoga teachers nowadays. Thanks for sharing your practice.

Candace, thanks for this great, slow flow. I would love to see one for lifters that focused more on rotator cuff, hip flexor, and neck/trapezius mobility. Thanks for all of your awesome videos!

I'm so happy I found your channel, and I'm so greatful that you have an entire playlist dedicated to people who weightlift and do yoga! I find it hard to relate to a lot of yoga instructors because many don't weightlift or are even against it. And it's so wonderful to have a woman instead of a man show us, I also do yoga and weightlift and this is so awesome. Girl power $:

These types of videos are great! I notice I can go deeper and fuller in my reps and exercises because of the increase in flexibility! Any chance you could make a video like this style for Olympic lifts but for the lower exercises like squats and dead lifts?

Hi, Candace :) I would like to ask about specific videos. Would you make some tutorial about how to train handstand without a wall with a help of somebody? That would be really awesome. And then could you make also some tutorial about how to get from handstand into wheel? You make it look so simple and elegant. I tend to bend my hands and do somersault :D Just suggestions. Have a beautiful day, Candace, you are doing amazing work, such an inspiration ♥

Hi Candace! This video looks amazing. I've been lifting for the past 9 months and along with yoga it has totally changed my health and body. I can't wait to see what else you bring out. I was wondering if you had any advice about yoga teacher training programs. I want to become certified this summer. What are some things I should look for when picking a problem? Thanks so much!

I would do them as an active recovery on your rest days. They're also gentle enough so that you could do them on the same day as you train - you could do them as a warm up to your lifting, or as a cool down (or even hours later just for added mobility work). When it comes to this particular style of yoga, you can't really overdo it :)

Hi candace i have a question if i may ask ,, when doing the extended child's pose (11:00) i have a hard time with my head position, i cant rest my forehead to the ground (ill have to push my head down and round my back to do that and i wont be relaxed) the ideal position is my face (nose or chin) to the ground and its not comforting at all !! what i do now is turn my head to the side and rest my cheek to the ground then switch sides :) is that the right thing to do ??

That move when you interlock your hands behind the back and raise the arms...that's quite impossible (maybe due to tightness in chest or no flexibility there)...any suggestions to work on that? I do a lot of stretching that are similar to this move prior to benching because I've had some chest injuries in the past. But I can't master that move, strangely..

Yep! Chest openers are going to be your friend. Google 'yogabycandace yin yoga' and try to get a few yin practices in. That's so helpful for flexibility.
