@@mrkipling2201problem is there’s too much politics in our cricket. I’m sure you’ve heard of the Darren Bravo saga. I wasn’t born during the glory years, but insularity and politics were affecting the team even then. We just had enough great players to offset the effect of not playing our best players. I’ll show you what I mean. Brian Lara and Jimmy Adams were banging on the WI doors since the late 80s. I remember watching a highlight’s documentary about Australia’s visit to the Caribbean in 1991. Wes Hall, one of our greatest players and a warrior against insularity was saying after a WI collapse, that the WI middle order had been very weak for the last 5-6 years. That would take us to 1986 after the retirements of Larry Gomes and co. Yet still players like Keith Atherton were constantly selected. Totally nonsensical

ppl always say the ashes 05 was the best series ever, but that was basically england catching australia off guard, having the ability to really nail them down for the first time in ages using their own conditions to their advantage, but only really scraping across the line due to umpiring errors and australia's incompetence/arrogance. This series was an absolute classic, showing individual brilliance of a few with some support can challenge a very very good well rounded side, with such an imbalance head to head that created such a topsy turvy series... Ind-aus 01 was similar...

It's said that before the second test at Kingston, Lara joked to Warne and Mcgrath that he was glad "It'll be the last time I'll ever say heads or tails". Lara ended up scoring 213 and West Indies won by 10 wickets.
Lara is one man army for wi
4th test score 136 Lara 100 see how much westindies were dependent on him
Lara's standing in world cricket rose manifold after this performance. In many ways this series was a redemption for him , his batting form having been off the mark in the last couple of years.
Lara is by far the best batsman after Viv Richards in world cricket!!!
lara ..legend
I want the real West Indies back :(
Lara walking without waiting for the umpire and Steve Waugh whingeing despite being caught cleanly illustrates why the Windies were so easy to root for and why the Aussies were so easy to root against.
West Indies made 51 in an innings here, 54 in England a year later, unfortunately their batting could look abysmal at times back then.

@@juanestadian8471mate, I feel for you. A competitive West Indies team can only be good for test cricket. There's a few green shoots of hope though. Chanderpaul, Alzarri Joseph, the wicketkeeper and a few other good players coming through. I really hope that you guys start to work your way back to some sort of team that will entice the fans back. I see a lot of your comments on these videos and they're always very knowledgeable, fair and correct. Have a great weekend mate. 👍👍

@@mrkipling2201 I doubt it’s as bad as the West Indies. I’ll give you a stat that nobody mentions but is emblematic of our fall in standards. Of the WI batsmen that debuted after 1990, only five have finished their careers with averages over. 40: Lara, Chanderpaul, Jimmy Adams, Ramnaresh Sarwan and Chris Gayle. No one else

Only a genius can do it
Lara surely Top batsman
I Watch B C LARA's batting....SO i am alive...
1999 South Africa should have been World Champions.
The trouble that the West Indies had around that time was that they only had 3 world class test cricketers in Lara, ambrose and Walsh. The rest failed to stand up and be counted far too many times for them to be consistently successful.

This series was Australia vs great lara.
I just want real test cricket back. All the sides seem to be pale imitations of their former selves. Australia, Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, New Zealand South Africa and England (I am English by the way) only seem strong because everyone else is so weak.

Brian Lara Test Series
T20 has ruined test cricket. Lara's willow at his will. What a genius batting! Rest of the 10 + Lara vs Aussie. Very Unfair. As time passed by, West Indian cricket went from bad to worst and now Cricket is no more for Windies. Passion has gone. Now Cricket is played among India, England, Australia, New Zealand. South Africa, Pakistan, Srilanka, Windies - Slip down from Rich to poor performances. Sooner or later it will be franchise cricket. Not much interest these days.

ppl always say the ashes 05 was the best series ever, but that was basically england catching australia off guard, having the ability to really nail them down for the first time in ages using their own conditions to their advantage, but only really scraping across the line due to umpiring errors and australia's incompetence/arrogance. This series was an absolute classic, showing individual brilliance of a few with some support can challenge a very very good well rounded side, with such an imbalance head to head that created such a topsy turvy series... Ind-aus 01 was similar...

The 05 ashes was played between 2 very good sides and England won because they were a bit better than Australia, not because of umpires or anything like that. Decisions made by Australia had something to do with it as well like bowling first at Edgebaston but England were a bit better.
