You can’t say that. The LBW rules were very different 15 years ago, and even more so 20 years ago when this happened. For example, umpires did not give deliveries crashing into leg stump out before the laws of DRS stipulated that the ball has to be hitting each stump flush for it to be out. And this was done because under the previous UDRS system, the decision was still at the discretion of the umpire and it resulted in innumerable howlers, as many as there were before any drs or udrs

The West Indies team as a cricketing giant is dead. We can’t compete against minnows having failed to qualify for the World Cup coming up in just a few days. We can now be beaten by just about any side in world cricket as we have given other people the belief that we are beatable and the team believes (and who ever plays for the team) they will be beaten. I don’t know how tournaments like CPL and other T20 or T10 tournaments create legacies for any of the players when they leave. No one will remember Narine, Russel or others from the IPL unless you’re an Indian and not even then because India is for Indians and they are only using them to make themselves stronger internationally. Indian male players are not even allowed to compete outside of India in the Other limited overs tournament but now they have the #1 Limited Overs side in world cricket or at least one of best. People remember the heroics of Worrrell, Weekes and Walcott, Greenidge and Haynes, Garner, Croft, Holding, Roberts and Marshall,Ambrose, Walsh, Lara and Chanderpaul, Sarwan and Gayle (the latter only plying his trade in the tournaments when he had already established himself as one of the most destructive openers in World Cricket and contentions between the board and himself). We remember these players not because of any feats in leagues across the world but because of International excellence. We are so sad as black people. This goes beyond West Indies cricket but to our very natures as negroes. We fail to understand anything beyond “me” or “I”. Politics, Board Policies, Nepotism, Players attitudes and agendas have led to us now being laughed at as a cricketing nation, as a team, as a people. Whites and Indians know this and use this to their advantage to cause us to become disagreeable amongst ourselves; the old rule divide and conquer. West Indies cricket, the first International all black side to dominate for years at the top in a time where blacks were considered inferior creatures (and we still are considered that, make no mistake) are now proving our naysayers right by our behaviors. We came at a time where we were oppressed and downtrodden. It still is happening today socially, economically and culturally but it’s a bit more clandestine and sinister. The Governments, Board and Players have allowed this to happen. Those against us say blacks self destruct in time, they are selfish and can’t run anything right, black people are segregated and are prone to division. Instead of us remaining united we here rumors of individual boards within countries breaking away and forming their own side. We just haven’t learned. Anytime black people unite, they are a force to be reckoned with. In slavery, blacks from different tribes with their own grudges to grind, were sent to different plantations for the very same reason, Africa has been raided for years and the Western world as kept her individual countries from uniting to keep her weak internationally (Just think how powerful a united Africa would be), The West Indies Federation in the early 60s failed because of outside political agendas and influence and pride amongst the leaders of the day (Just imagine a United West Indies Federation) today. But we are not learning. So it is sad but it is reality. A cricketing giant is dead but it could have been prevented.
