I remember watching this series live on TV. It was a crazy series with all high scoring games. NZ mostly managed to trump Australia by the narrowest of margins in terms of runs & wickets. Australia were a champion WC winning team back then, but Kiwis were an equally resolute lot.

This series was played just before the worldcup... Australia have a tendency to loose the series just before the worldcup and then in WC they Triumph as the World Champions ... This series was dominated by McCullum and Mccmilan

without Ponting, Clarke, Symonds, Gilchrist, Mcgrath, Lee they were playing, it was more like Australia C team and that too gave tough competition to New Zealand full squad at their home.

this series was right before the 2007 WC..Aus lost 0-3 and for a moment, as an Indian, it seemed like Aus can be beaten and are vulnerable going into the WC because the nightmare of the 2003 WC final was still afresh..the thing many didn't consider was against NZ in this series, Aus didn't play with big players especially Ponting and Mcgrath..come the WC, Aus literally destroyed every other team and won the WC so effortlessly that it seemed pointless to organize a WC

Marvellous century from Craig McMillan and excellent 86 from Brendon McCullum under Pressure have helped New Zealand to a famous win also Whitewash against Australia in ODI Cricket that time it's a massive achievement since they are in prime plus Peter Fulton and Mark Gillespie played a important role in the match as well

Hardly ever consistent form, but when they are on form they are fuckin' tough to beat.

Didn't believe it then, still can't believe it now. Australian had it. It was ours..... Huge score, early wickets...... and then. McMillan..... and then. McCullum. It's a cruel game sometimes.

I am so lucky.. I saw this match live.. This match is big advertisement for ODI cricket..

Those 2 catches from Hodge and Voges were dope as Fxk 🙌.. Not many bowling side get that kind of support from their fielding Dept. catches and run outs in clutch moments is recorded best when it comes to fielding by OZs. They just know how to grab and hit the stumps. Superb fielding unit. One of the many reasons why they conquered decades in cricket. Edit: In this match their fielding itself produced 4 wickets. 2 superb run-outs and catches.

This series was the RISE OF BAZ. If you know you know.🔥

What a match.. A real team effort in which every player resolved not to waste efforts of previous team mates.

One of the most memorable serieses in my life. I still share how mighty Australia was slaughtered by NZ especially by Jackob Oram.

Except that Jacob Oram injured his hand in the first game of the series while fielding and didn't play in games 2 or 3. He never batted, so he did exactly zero "slaughtering" in this series.

Awesome knock. The one I think finally topped this was Glen Maxwell 201* in the WC against Afghanistan after Australia were almost going to lose miserably.

Look at Shain tait's pace but he is still getting smashed.

I still remember this match, i came to home for lunch from School and started watching this match and forgot to go to school afternoon session by watching this match. This series is unforgettable to MIke Hussey, It is first & last series as a captain. It is night mare series to him.

Great series. The most fun i ever had in a week of cricket. Beat aussie by 10wkts at wellington, 300+ chase at Auckland then that 340 back from the dead in Hammertown. Plus a bonus of Hadyn getting 180. Crazy!

Two factors cause Australia loose 1. Low score in small ground, 347 is not that much score in that ground of Christchurch, they should atleast score additional 35-50 runs. 2. Excessive hitting of sixes from New Zealand team, in fact each tailender also hit at least a six in that match except mark Gillespie.
