Loved watching this overview and seeing your thoughts on the Avatar Graphic Novels! I agree with you, The Lost Adventures and Team Avatar Tales were fine, but nothing I would ever reread. Very average and forgettable mini comics. Katara and the Pirate's Silver and Toph Beifong's Metalbending Academy were pretty neat. I liked seeing how Toph's character evolved after the main show and how she tries to help others find their power and motivation as Earthbenders. I also liked Katara and the Pirate's Silver as a good little side quest, even if it doesn't affect the main plot. But the (as of now) 6 core novels absolutely knocked it out of the park for me. I loved every one of their storylines and how it subtly sets up the events of Korra while also feeling like a perfect continuation of the show. The only issue I had was with the cliffhanger in Smoke and Shadow (regarding a certain antagonist on the loose), which I really hoped gets resolved in a future graphic novel. I hope you get a chance to read "North and South" and "Imbalance" soon! I cannot agree with you about the First Formic War series, however. I enjoyed them almost as much as the Ender's game saga and the Ender's Shadow series. I'm excited for the Second Formic War series to be finished so we can get more of that universe and those characters.

@@DragonArmyBooks It's easily one of my favorite sci fi series. I reread them all every so often. Hopefully I'll get a chance to soon.

I'm really glad you're talking about the Avatar graphic novels. I read them at some point over the last year, but went through them so quickly that I didn't think critically about them. Looking back on them now, I think Smoke and Shadow was my favorite. I agree that it would be nice to see some growth from Azula, but maybe the new Avatar Studios will give us more. Don't forget that then next one, Suki Alone, comes out at the end of July! Probably a dumb question, but are you planning on reading the Kyoshi novels?

Certainly planning on reading the Kyoshi novels. In fact, I just finished the last graphic novel, I am in the final season of Korra, then I'll hop right on the Kyoshi novels. Have you read them? Are they any good?

@@DragonArmyBooks I've read the first novel, but not the second one yet. I really enjoyed the first one even though it took me a little bit to get into it. The politicking and dramatic irony ate top notch! And, of course, the new bending applications are super cool! I absolutely LOVE the aesthetic of the book as well! However, I don't particularly like reading hard cover books because of how I have to hold the pages and these pages a bit thicker than normal. So if your hands cramp easily like mine do, you may want to read a digital copy and get a physical copy for your shelf.

I've just gotten into reading graphic novels and I'm loving it. Is there a certain order to read the Avatar novels in? I've looked it up and keep getting conflicting information. Thank you for your help.
