I believe the sub-genre is called RPGLit. Great wrap up!

Thanks for watching! And here's to hoping that we both can find our way out of our reading slumps in September!

So LitRPG is the subgenre you are thinking of but it's not actually how Will Wight describes the Cradle series. LitRPGs tend to be too focused on the RPG mechanics of a video game. He describes Cradle as a Progression Fantasy. A fantasy series that has a measurable power growth incorporated into the magic system. A writer colleague of his, Andrew Rowe, did a great blog post on what it includes and how it's different than regular LitRPGs. It would be considered the same sub-genre as Brandon Sanderson's Stormlight Archives.

Interesting. I totally get how it might not fall into the traditional definition of LitRPGs, but I definitely don't see it as the same type of literature as Stormlight Archives. Progression Fantasy is certainly a good term for it though.

@@DragonArmyBooks It's more of a flavor to describe how the magic system works since Stormlight Archives does actually have your powers / abilities grow as more oaths are spoken. Andrew Rowe writes about it better ( I'd link the post but KZread blocks that ). That being said Stormlight is still wayyy different than Cradle but I still smile just the same when a character "levels up"

Somehow I’m still missing the logic of not feeling anything so you’re not trying any new books…. I think that’s the only way you could find something to feel for again…

Wellll, if you watched that one video then you’d see me explain that I ain’t gonna randomly try new ones for now, asking viewers to make moving suggestions, then I’d choose from those. So it’s not no new books. Just no new books randomly selected from my TBR.

So, what do you do apart from running this channel? I'm curious.
