Summary:
1. Oiling the vegetables: Smothering your veggies with oil before you start cooking them may seem like a foolproof way to avoid them sticking to the pan. Unfortunately, adding oil to them increases the chances of the veggies getting burned because the oil will get extremely hot.
2. Not cooking them at all: While it’s true that many vegetables are healthier in their raw state, it is not true for all of them. Beets, broccoli, onions and bell peppers have more nutrients when raw, but others actually become more nutritious when heat is applied.
3. Prepping veggies too early: Some people like to get ahead and do tasks in advance rather than at the last minute. While that is a good trait for some things, it doesn’t always work with vegetables. Once you wash and cut them, oxidation and nutrient loss begins as does wilting and spoilage. It is better to cut your veggies right before you use them.
4. Boling them too much: Boiling may be a quick way to prepare veggies, but it’s also a quick way to rid them of nutrients and flavor. When you boil them, the water soluble nutrients seep out of the veggies and into the cooking water. Boiling can also lead to overcooking, which will make them soft, gray and mushy.

13th way you’re cooking them dreadfully wrong : using wrong cookware like aluminium/non-stick pans of Teflon etc. Use clay/ brass/ cast iron cookware or at least stainless steel. *Also Ayurveda mentions about how and when to cook and eat food for maximum benefits.*

Xra Tip- when you steam your veggies the nutrients will seep into the water (notice green water after steaming broccoli). If you can get creative with finding a way to drink that water (use it in your protein shake for example) you'll still get the nutrients.

    2 жыл бұрын

@@Monique-mn9of Hi :) Ye the issue is that "regular" most veggies and fruits are mass produced in soil that already lacks nutrients. So even if they appear green and you prepare them the right way, the nutriional value is sub-par and you would need at least x3 or x4 as much to get your daily dose of healthy vitamins and minerals. Organic growth is strict and often not as mass-produced as the regular ones. And also contains less pesticides(which is linked to various conditions, like Parkinson's) Then there's another thing you should know about your body being able to take in the vitamins and minerals from healthy food, because many people have weak gut bacteria, and when that balance is out of whack you can have all sorts of issues with the stomach and disgestion, as well as properly digest the food and its nutriional value. The gut bacteria are amazing, and a good working gut brings you great health. I am talking about "probiotics". I am using them myself and it has brought me great health benefits. I am using a brand called Jarrow, and I bought the one with the most bacteria 50 billion. In case you're into becoming more healthy. I also noticed you have a darker skintone, and if you aren't already, I suggest taking Vitamin D3 supplements. Since darker skin is known to produce less of the D vitamin from the rays of the sun, many people who have darker skin have a vitamin D deficiency, and some are severely defficient, especially if you never sunbathe and rarely consume the food that has high vitamin D values. You should look up the symptoms of a D3 deficiency as it is often related to mental health issues. Panic attacks, depression, lack of motivation to do things, agoraphobia(scared to leave the house), and many other issues. So ye, I know it's a bit much but I like to help people get healthier and feel better. Hope it's useful information for you! Much love from the netherlands!

*(Extra) virgin* olive oil is NOT sutable for cooking! *It gets poisenous when heated!* It is only to be used in COLD dishes, like salads, and then it is very healthy and good for you. For cooking you need to use *classical* olive oil. I really dont get why so many people keep making this mistake. In The Netherlands where I live manufacturers have to say on the packaging if olive oil can be heated or is stricktly for COLD use.

My favourite way to cook vegetables, is to stir fry fast over high heat, using salt water, with pepper or other spices of your choosing, NO oil! The reason being oil masks and dilutes the full flavour of the vegetables etc. and oil coated carbohydrates is a poor combination for digestion, in particular not good for your liver. The pure taste of the veggies without oil is amazing, and the moisture content and texture is great to. I usually have about half a cup to one cup of salt water for a bigger size stir fry.

I use fat free oil, water lol I steam them in sterling sliver pan and cover them with a lid. Remove the lid for a few minutes when they are mostly cooked. Drain any excess water.

Also remember only use these two fats for cooking. Butter is packed with nutrients so it's suitable for frying your omeletes and for frying in general and extra virgin olive oil for cooking or salads or dousing your meals. Seed oils cause macular degenration, some produce bad cholesterols and cancers, so avoid those.

Cold-pressed virgin coconut oil is great also. Just avoid any & all chemically/thermally refined oils, regardless of the type - which means avoiding most prepackaged foods (read the ingredient label) & also pretty much all restaurant-prepared foods.

Lycopene is pronounced with a hard C. C is only pronounced like an s when it’s before an I or an E, and not always there either. But never before an A or O or U.

I try to stick vegetables that are grown above ground and avoid caramelizing as it converts the carbs to sugar, use coconut, avocado oil or butter Buon Appetito!😊

@@luanaalmeida809 You're right. Our bodies convert carbs into glucose for energy. Any excess glucose gets further converted and stored in our fat cells.

You do not use extra Virgin olive oli to cook. It is drizzled over vegetables that are either raw or have already been cooked.
