    When I signed for my truck on Saturday, I specifically asked the dealer about this, stating that I tow regularly and off-road often. The sales manager asked their "truck expert" and he said - "no problem with transmission temperature. you don't need an additional cooler.." I think I'll show them this video and ask to install that.

    I have the same truck with the 6.2 and yes the stock exhaust completely sucks. I upgraded to the Chevy performance option before I hit 2000 miles and it sounds great, and its not loud enough that my neighbor will hate me every morning. I'll have to keep an eye out on the transmission temp, pretty sure I havent seen it over 200 though. Just about to hit 8000 miles. Nice truck man I like the rims.

    Hey. Thanks for putting this video together. I was actually considering this truck for purchase. I don't live in a mountainous area but I do visit the mountains and trails of southern Utah. So the transmission temps are something for me to consider. Could I get your opinion on the quality of the interior? Are there any soft materials on the dash or is it all hard plastic?

  • @limitedslipautomotive

    @limitedslipautomotive

    The interior is not bad, but not great. Some small fit and finish issues and no soft touch really anywhere. It looks nice from a distance, but mostly hard plastic.

    @jeffissimo1221

    @@limitedslipautomotive Thanks. I think you just talked me out of it. I know others felt the same way about the interior. You're paying nearly $50K for a vehicle and Chevy took just about every available shortcut they could. Some of it can be given a pass, but when you add in the 5.3L engine issues and the transmission temps you pointed out, it's really hard to overcome all of that. I currently have a Wrangler so I am used to the plastic interior. My transmission temps get uncomfortably high on occasion as well. I don't understand why these manufacturers specify what type of transmission to utilize and then what fluid it requires, but then build a system that cannot maintain the temperature limits specified by the fluid manufacturers. I feel like everything is designed to fail.

    My custom stock tire trail boss in the mountains was going over 221 and I had to pull over and cool it down. I am shocked this would even be a problem with the trail boss. I am going to the dealership to find out about a transmission cooler. 35” tires are not going to be an option with the transmission off-road getting hot. Also the truck is slow on stock tire size and averages 14.9mpg. The truck is good in all other categories. Shocks are really nice. Wish I had the 6.2 10 speed custom for the 6 seats,power,and lower gearing, and gas mileage.

    Any transmission temps going over 210 isn't good I guess over 220 transmission fluid starts turning to varnish! My ex had a Chevy traverse with the 9 speed transmission it was getting up to 230, I did some research and anything over 220 degrees the way I understand it that's showing there is some kind of issue or not a sufficient cooling on the system I would be calling GM about it. I got lucky on the 9 speed and it was about 1.5 qts low and I flushed the fluid out by drain and filling it and never got that hot again, check yours to make sure it's full. Good video good luck 👍.

    I have just the plain Custom. Not the Trail Boss. What I don't like is the crease, going from the headlight on the side to under the side view mirrors. It looks dated and sort grandpa-ish. Why can't they just run the crease straight across the side? 2. The damn side view mirrors are mounted too low. I'm used to them being in that corner of the window. 3. It's a truck! I like the big mirrors. But not the ones they have now, they're hideous. 4. The driver's seat is UNcomfortable as hell. I sit too low (I'm 6') and no lumbar support. I feel like I'm sinking into the seat. 5. For the prices they charge for these trucks a spray in bed liner should be standard! 6. "CHEVROLET" across the front grille AND the back tailgate? Really? It's overkill. 7. You mentioned color matching the bumper with the rest of the truck. How about matching the damn wheels too. I know they do it with the Trail Boss but not with lower trims. As soon as I get $12k for a down payment , I'm scouring the dealers looking for an LT Trail Boss with multi flex tailgate ( bowtie instead of "CHEVROLET" on the back) and sunroof.
