    Not quite, but it would be a start. People need to let gm/chevy hear it. With Ram bringing the TRX out, why not have a Supercharged Silverado ZR2 to compete as well??

  • @karlschauff7989

    @karlschauff7989

    5 жыл бұрын

    @@SDRacing88 If a Silverado got the suspension tech of the ZR2, it could compete pretty well with the Raptor. Spool valve shocks are superior to the shim and disk shocks that the Raptor uses. The torsen front diff in the Raptor would be preferrable to the ZR2's front locker for desert stuff. Other than that, I don't see any area that the Raptor would have a clear advantage in. I know one disadvantage of the Raptor. Those IWE front hubs that Ford uses in their old school vacuum-actuated 4WD are a well-known weakness. Between vacuum leaks and the Torsen's ability to chew the IWE's up with ease, it's a problem that a lot of guys have to fix with mods.

  • @SDRacing88

    @SDRacing88

    5 жыл бұрын

    @@karlschauff7989 ok let me rephrase, when I said that, I'm referring to specifically high speed desert running...now I do agree the ZR2 CAN be competitive with the spool valve shocks, but it does have limitations......it lacks the suspension travel the raptor has. I could only imagine longer control arms and larger spool valve shocks......

  • @karlschauff7989

    @karlschauff7989

    Great review! I will be checking out more of your videos in the future. I have never driven a 6.2L GM, but I highly endorse the 5.3L engine. I had a 2000 Silverado 5.3 that currently sits at 330k+ miles, my dad has an '06 GMC with the 4.8L (same block, different stroke) that probably will hit 400k miles in the next few weeks. I picked up a '19 Trail Boss Custom in September and was very impressed with the improved performance versus all the old GM stuff I had driven. Again, I haven't driven a 6.2 and I am not familiar with their durability, but, in my opinion, you can't beat the durability of the 5.3 and I have been happy with the performance trailering ~5,000 pounds with my new Silverado.

    Awesome video. Love that theres a TFL Canada. In case you didnt know, I didnt until recently, in the owners manual it states "sport" mode actually changes the steering feel as well. Not a lot, but it is noticeable. Sport mode cuts back some of the electric power steering assist and gives a bit more steering feedback. The new 2019 Rancho suspension is SO much better than the 2018s too. I find my new 19 rides 100x smoother than my 2018 did. I drive a 2019 X31 Sierra not a trail boss though

    RAM TRUCKS I’d say 2019/2020 is junk years for trucks in general. But, with the exception of design of course. For towing heavy loads, I’d go with a Silverado. Towing under 10k, I’d do an f150. Luxury truck, I’d do a ram. The only thing I don’t like about the 1500 Silverado is the laggy 8 and 10 speeds. I don’t even know how it was possible to ruin the shifts in those but for some reason these years they just aren’t tuned properly. That’s like my only issue with any of the trucks for these years.

I haven't driven a 6.2L truck but I am excited to get behind the wheel of one. I have a 5.3L in my Z71 with 4.10 gears and my friend has a Procharger on his 5.3L Z71 that really makes some great power (12.4 second 1/4 mile) but I can only imagine having a 6.2L to start (and then add boost!). Have a 2014 Silverado 4X4 Off-road LTZ Double Cab. Recently, while towing a 7000 lb Winnebago travel trailer, I had the misfortune (bad sense) of pulling off the road onto and into the red clay/mud berm of a rural New Mexico highway. Immediately upon leaving the pavement the truck/trailer combo began sliding sideways. I immediately engaged the 4WD and, though we were still slip-sliding and had little traction, our Silverado pulled us back onto solid pavement. We were amazed at the power and stability of the truck to pull itself and the travel trailer out of a situation that surely would have cost many dollars for extrication. It rained shortly thereafter and washed nearly all of the mud from the truck and trailer. We praised God for giving us the wherewithal to get us out of the situation safe and sound and allowing us to get home to Ohio safely. To God be the glory.

    Well under...when I got a new truck, I went with an ‘18 Z71 instead of the ‘19 because I like the square body design of the ‘18 models a lot more. MSRP was ~$55,000 and got it for ~$36,000. Heck of a deal on a new truck, and I love it. It’s a lot nicer than the 2018 F-150 FX4 (interior falling apart at 14,000 miles) it replaced and gets way better mileage than the 2016 Tundra Off Road I had before that (truck was totaled in a wreck.)

    Have a 2021 and it's going through it's first mud season here in the mountains of New England. Truck is an A+ in the mud. Steady chugging through terribly deep sticky mud with ruts over the axles in some cases and never struggled. Don't like the stock Duratrac tires and plan on going with a bit more lift and new TOYO AT III's for tires but the truck is a proven winner in deep muck and is a confident mudder
