@@makushimus8421 half and half. a) original poster is clearly making a joke. there are several tells. therefore, i am not treating him as a flat earther, so anything goes. b) a pilot who ejects from a plane is put on ground duty, pending an investigation. the ejection needs to be justified, otherwise he is just grounded. that part is real. treat it as straight information, or a "straight man" response to a joke. c) if you don't know the story of icarus, look it up. he died because of hubris. of course, that story is a myth.

I’m guessing you’re thinking of Mad Mike, who believed he could build a steam-powered rocket that could take him up to the Karman line. He raised money from FEers by telling thdm he would be able to prove the Earth was flat. The ascent of the best rocket took him to about 10,000ft (not bad though nowhere near space) but the descent parachute failed; he died on impact. The joke has been cracked that a FEer proved gravity exists.

Nah it’s usually much earlier than that if your parents are FEs or YECs... Some people snap out of it by high school or college but others never do. Conspiratorial thinking opens people up to believe all kinds of nonsense without good schools to teach kids to think rationally and form their own worldview based on actual facts and the scientific method. I’m so glad I was able to understand fact from fiction by kindergarten like the OP. Must be one of the lucky ones born with common sense.

Lunar eclipses are easy - the Cosmic Capybara rises from the underside of the earth plate and eats the moon. Psst. The T is tsunami is not silent, you’ve been pronouncing it wrong. Tsu is one of the building blocks of Japanese sounds. They also have Su, which is what you are using when you mispronounce tsunami. The Tsu sound is a subtle combination of the T and the S. Start off like you are going to make a T sound, then transition into the S. Other than that, thumbs up.

in 2019, a group of flat earthers decided to scientifically prove that the earth is flat, so they bought a 20,000 dollars ring laser gyroscope which is an extremely precise tool that can be used to gauge the earth's motion.. they figured that if earth is actually a sphere, they would see a 15 degree per hour drift (360 degrees/24hours = 15 degrees/hour) on their gyroscope and although they were very confident that this would not happen, when they turned on the device it said 15 degrees on the dot. Now in the words of one of the lead researchers, “we obviously weren’t going to accept that.” They tried to use the gyroscope again in what’s called a zery gauss chamber, and also in a bismuth chamber to alleviate any outside factors that could be affecting the reading. Still, however, it remained 15 degrees. But instead of accepting these results, they literally decided to come up with an entirely different experiment. They took two boards and cut holes in them. Then, they placed them a distance away and put a camera on one side, and a light on the other. If Earth is flat, the camera would see the light when they were both been held at the same high, if the earth is round,however, the light would have to be held higher for it to be seen. And the results were the same as if the earth was round.

These videos crack me up. The seriousness with which he makes statements so mind-numbingly self-explanatory or self-evident and the passive aggressiveness behind how he phrases certain things xD. "Use it (a scale) to tell me literally anything about the distances between literally anything. When you can't do it and your numbers don't correlate with reality in the slightest, recall that *this* map does it just fine and then admit, that your map is stupid". All perfectly true but expressed so hilariously, lol. It's been more than a year since I first watched these videos. Now I remember why I enjoyed them so much (apart from learning some new things about physics).

Not being a flat earther myself, this concept has always baffled me. I enjoyed this video immensely. We have had some spectacular moons in the last few days, incidentally, which has been fascinating to observe even through binoculars. There is such awe-inspiring beauty everywhere, regardless of the ignorance and stupidity of humanity.

Yeah I go to recent comments sometimes when I see these videos again and they just hurl insults or say something like “this doesn’t prove anything” but they won’t disprove what he’s saying. Like if someone is wrong about something, you don’t just say “you’re wrong because someone is brainwashing you”. Flat earther: But the planes do not have to steer down every 10 miles! Intelligent people: Gravity exists. Emagine you have tied a rope around a plane figure. Then you hold the rope far back and start spinning. The gravity drags the plane towards the earth's midd even though it’s moving. There's actually a netflix documentary called "Behind the Curve" where they do experiments to prove that the earth is flat and end up proving it's round (shocked, I know) lol.

I should have written classic internet quote 😄 German sources, however, say that the quote can not be proven, but do not rule it out as many other invented Einstein quotes. I believe that he could have said something like that, especially with regard to the Manhattan Project, since Einstein was quite bitter at that time. Like:"Die Herrschaft der Dummen ist unüberwindlich, weil es so viele sind und ihre Stimmen genauso zählen wie unsere" (The rule of the stupid is insurmountable because there are so many of them and their votes count just like ours) or "Es war abscheulich, Menschen sind eine schlechte Erfindung." ( It was heinous, people are a bad invention.") From the diary of Einstein's last girlfriend Johanna Fantova. This diary is proven by scientific authenticity and Einstein biographers agree with this. So I think there is a possibility that Einstein said something like my original quote. I just like the thought of him saying that bc I'm a huge Einstein Fan and he inspired me to study geophysics. I'm sorry for publishing a quote that is not 100% proven. Sorry for that long ass text and sadly it is my germanness that just could not take your good and true joke as it is😭😂✌

Flat Earthers claim the Earth is surrounded by the Antarctic ice wall and access denied by NASA/UN/world government. Thus, they wouldn't believe you.

I love how your obviously sarcastic tone and speed of which you announce your challenges to them flat earthers are basically done, from your perspective at a fever pitch and literal breaking point. I can’t say I blame you and I am glad you are doing this but we both know it will not be well received by the community we’re addressing. I can understand your frustration in wanting to just not stoop to the level of explaining this but at the same time it is infuriating that people can honestly be beholden to this belief system. You are a stronger man than I Dave….and I applaud you for that. 👍👍

Flat earthers are convinced the earth is flat but their all argument defending their beliefs is that we can't be sure the earth is round or that we've never been in space to see it ourselves, but then they also cannot be so sure about the earth being flat 'cause of what they have said themselves. Then considering the amount of scientific proof we have, it shows that the theory of the earth being round is much more realistic than it being flat, exactly why most of humans agree on the fact our planet is round. All flat-earthers rely on is the usual "_you_can't be sure the earth is round" "_you_ haven't been to space" "_you_ haven't seen the round earth"

I am just amused that flat earthers even exist today?? It is like impossible!! How can anyone in this world who is not fully mentally disabled can even think of that earth is flat?????

My dad's newest one is that not only is the earth not a globe, but space, stars, planets, meteorites, and now light and sound are all just disturbances in the aether. He has yet to show me any physical proof. Thanks Dan!

Where does he _get_ these ideas from? And _why?_ Meteorites are actual rocks that impact the ground, that people can pick up and study. And what does he think caused Meteor Crater in Arizona? That's quite a "disturbance in the aether"!
