1:20 - actually the opposite. The pixelation over Holly’s face in S1 was a video effect that they decided to bin for S2.

This was supposed to be the *last* episode of the series, we don't see him again until the next one. Prime example of some BBC executive ignoring continuity; must put the best episode first! It's not even the only time they do it. The Nova 5's mission was to trigger various supernovas at particular times, so that their light would reach Earth at the same time, to spell out 'Coca-Cola' across the sky. The ship crashed after Kryten washed the computer. If I remember the timeline correctly, they didn't have mechanoids like Kryten when Lister went into stasis? But Divadroid *did* have other products in the meantime... not a talking *toaster* but a talking *something...*

This Kryten is also the voice of Talkie Toaster. The next Kryten you see will be played by someone else and the casting is genius. He completes the definitive line-up.

Androids was a take on an Australian Soap called Neighbours. Neighbours was very popular in the UK in the 1980's.

Yeah, they did make Holly's face a lot clearer in series 2. Kryten makes a permanent come back in series 3, although played by a different actor. My favourite parts in this episode are the fake soap opera 'Androids' at the beginning, which is a parody of Neighbours, and I also love Kryten's 'rebelling' scene!😄😄😄

For your information, the personality and the name 'Kryten' as a devoted servant in Red Dwarf is loosely based on the key character of the servant 'Crichton' in the movie 'The Admirable Crichton' (1957) played by Kenneth More!

Basil needs one of those corkscrews with the bottle opener on it I was a barman and I never failed to open a bottle of wine with that, you put the corkscrew in as normal and use the bottle opener to lever the cork out.

I like your reactions, but that sound everytime the scene cuts is very annoying. To me audio is most important, since I often got youtube in the background, while im doing something else. I don't mind watermarks or a blurry picture to avoid copyright, as long as audio is good.

I don't think people were really that sexist back in the forties. Watch some old films where some women characters were very empowered. However, I remember one hilarious comment from a 50s film: ' women are getting too capable for their own good'.

The scene where Basil whacks Manuel across the head with a frying pan, it was not a rubber prop. It was a real frying pan.

John Cleese based Basil Fawlty on a real hotel owner. The Monty Python Troupe stayed at the hotel where this highly irritating owner gave them a hard time.

"Blanco" (the aged bloke with the donkey ) was portrayed by Sir David Jason, who also portrayed "Granville" in the sitcom "Open All Hours," which also starred Ronnie Barker as his stuttering, miserly, grocery shop owner uncle "Arkwright." Sir David Jason, you will probably know best as "Del Boy" from "Only Fools And Horses" Megan. Hope you are feeling better now kiddo. X
