Hi Megan. Story for you here...The late, great Benny Hill, was in Switzerland once, for, I think it was for the Charlie Chaplin Award for comedy. Benny, who was a long-time fan of Chaplin himself, was, after the ceremony, invited into Charlie Chaplin's private office, and was invited to sit at Chaplin's desk. As Benny did so, he was told to look up at a certain position on the shelves of Chaplin's room. There, Benny saw rows of videotapes of ALL of Benny's work. He was told that Charlie Chaplin was a great fan of Benny Hill, which he was very moved by.

They say Benny Hill is said to be inappropriate and sexist but if you really watch his stuff the Men are idiots and the women have all the power it was funny back then and still is now enjoy.

I remember his shows slways ended with a very funny chase sequence a bit like the Keystone Cops kind of thing.

Now dive Tubes of You hole of Wonder for Drum role or even roll enter stage left....ERNIE THE FASTEST MILKMAN IN THE WEST ... Many UK "mans" of a certain age (old grumpy) will find they know this classic word by word after many many years, Bless them think Megan may enjoy to ?

Benny Hill's brand of humor was hugely popular in the late 60s/early 70s but his style became widely criticised for its unrelenting sexism and ageism, very non-PC at a time when values were changing, especially towards women. And yes, some of his routines owe much to the silent era, but he was also brilliant with exotic accents (you brurry iriot). A very funny, inventive and talented man that I will never tire of. Thanks for sharing Meg and for trying to make sense of a difficult edit.

He would be regarded these days as being sexist I think, but back in the 70s television was less pc.

You fool why do you have to play 1 off against the other - they were both comedy giants who shared a lot of innuendo and therefore did the same thing in their own way.

Rare to hear of a girl who enjoys Buster Keaton. Also, Happy Dominion (aka Canada) Day. Where in our country do you hail from? (i'm from Toronto)
