Need to warn potential DIY fitters that pedals, crank bolts and using the crank puller and bottom bracket can all be very difficult to remove. I went to the big bike retailer here in UK to help remove cross threaded crank and bottom bracket. It was worth it after many hours of massive force needed to remove bike parts. This seems to stem from the original bike builders not putting enough grease on these parts in initial assembly.

The great thing about the mid drive is that you can climb some insane gradients that other drives won't. Downside obviously it puts alot of strain on chain and freewheel so good idea to buy new when buying the kit. I have a 2015 Kona fire mountain 27.5" Mtb which I bought for peanuts and is in great condition and wondered if the 250w would be enough (uk legal) or should I give two fingers to the law and get a 750/1kw instead?
@mikethomas60513 ай бұрын
Go for the bbshd, the uk law is backwards and given they want to get away from eu law which forced the uk to adhere to before brexit, i use bbshd, i run both 48v and 52v with 21ah and 20ah capacity, done 70 miles with power left. Hills are fine on the drive chain if you don't abuse it with bad gear selections and low pas settings, i live in south west and hills are plenty here and steep. A few tips, buy a good chain, kmc is good, 9 speed gearing is all your need and best for chain alignment, get a good derailleur like microshift advent, don't buy cheap gear cassettes, if you use qr wheels in the rear the axle cones wear down fast, get a cheap thru axle frame, buy hydraulic brakes and use a cut off sensor you can mod onto it, i use 4pot brakes front and back now with 203mm and 180mm rotors.
