Ten out of ten highly recommend. I slapped one onto a salsa journeyman and I love it. I don’t have a shift sensor and I use it to deliver papers in my area so I have a trailer attached. I don’t need high speeds when hauling, I usually keep it on the biggest cog in assist two out of five. Racked up over 1000 miles on the system and today I am just now swapping the chain out.

Waiting on my mid-drive which is due to arrive in May. Not all that handy so I went with a Bolton F86 Fat bike. MOTOR: 48V1000W BAFANG BBSHD Mid-Drive, 1500 watts peak. I'm 65 and won't be doing any serious off-road stuff. Just wanted to thank you for the video. Great job.

I just purchased a barely used bike from a hobbyist that built one for his daughter. With the 750 watt bbs02, 8 gears Shimano shifters, new cables, new breaks, new bike and tires, mirrors and shift sensors with speed sensors and the bafang 850c lcd. Total life on the odometer when I got it(today) was 180 miles. Top speed recorded was 32 mph. I just got 38mph. It's a great set up. I'm glad I found it

I've done about 9000km on mine now. Very satisfied. I usually use power level 1 of 3. 35km/h on the flats. Glad I converted a mountain bike. Can take the strain of 30kg weight. I put on marathon e plus tyres. Throttle is very handy at the traffic lights. Don't need brake sensor or gear sensor, just don't change gears under load.

I love my BBS02 750W too! I have a gear sensor and I think it's pretty important. In practice I end up really mashing the gears... low to get started and then pretty quickly up to the high... you have higher gearing... I cruise at just less than 20MPH but that's fine for my urban central London commute as it gives me enough thinking/braking time!

Put this on my old push bike - best thing I ever did, get about just as fast around town as a car. Great for touring around where cars can't go. Don't need effort but you can put some in by pedalling but hey when you're tired just push the throttle and keep going.

I already have a DIY e-bike that was a 1000w rear hub CSC kit slapped onto a $200 walmart bicycle. But am getting a nice bonus from work soon and will be looking at getting a bicycle in the $600-$800 range and installing a mid drive kit to it. One thing I am curious about, is how responsive is the mid-drive motor to PAS? On my current e-bike PAS has a 3-5 second delay after I start pedaling before the motor is engaged, which can be a problem if I have to stop at an intersection whilst on an incline.

I ordered a 750watt BBSO2 back in June of this year; it was the first product that arrived when I wasn't expecting it (according to what amazon said on delivery time) until July! However, I ordered a pair of Schwalbe tires from (didn't know at the time I ordered them) the Netherlands...still waiting upon delivery! This week will be the sixth week for the tires (I'll make an effort to not order retail bike products from the Netherlands ever again. China is a faster delivery time compared to the Netherlands!). I also have an Orange colored Motobecane frame that the motor kit will be installed onto. Can't wait. Thanks for the positive feedback and I am looking forward to easier and funner bike riding very soon (hopefully).

Great video man! What can you say about maintenance to the motor once installed? I've heard they constantly need to be tightened, anywhere from after a few miles, to after a few rides, depending on how far. I get that needs to be tight to the bottom bracket, but in your experience, how often do you have to retighten? I'm looking to put this motor on my '97 Bianchi HT mountain bike. Really want to put a 1,000w on it, I'm just not sure it would be good for the bike. Thx for your review!

We’ve got some decent hills so just need something that makes it possible for her to be able to ride pulling our daughters. Not looking to run it mainly electric, just help on the hills. You think this would be a good option?

  • @stevemania1

Correct! It's an assist and a throttle, you could always look into a smaller motor to get less of an assist if she doesn't need a ton of power, mid drive is definitely the way to go if doing lots of hills or pulling any extra weight

We purchased this Vivi 27.5” electric bike and a Tentaquil 26” electric bike for our 13 and 14 year olds. kzread.infoUgkxUiL0GnyDjP32RJdd660sP8mZk4CRLTCJ The Vivi was much easier to put together. With the Vivi, there was a video link to assist with assembly which made the process easier to follow (we did put the handlebars on upside down, but it was a quick and easy fix). With the Tentaquil, the assembly was not as simple to follow, but after we messaged the company for an assembly video, it was easier and they did respond quickly. The other major differences were that the Vivi has a grip throttle on the right handle (like a motorcycle) and the Tentaquil has a push throttle that you use your thumb to activate. The monitors were also different, so if you’re looking for something specific in terms of changing the bikes functions, pay attention to what the monitor offers. We were really impressed with the overall quality and functionality of both bikes, but if you’re looking for more power and an easier assembly, definitely go with the Vivi!

Be wary of Bafang. Mine worked great for about a month and then the problems started. Started working with Bafang to troubleshoot the issue. By the time they decided it needed to be sent in, it was after the crappy 90 day warranty. Now I'm stuck with $1400 worth of junk.

Motor itself costs few hunder bucks most. Your battery and other items are probably fine.

The world will be full of E-bikes soon as the price of fuel skyrockets. Pretty good value a good bike for $700.00 and a kit for $1000.00
