Just be ready when you do this, as there is a reason you don't see him remove the peg bolts. I don't know what Suzuki was thinking, but my peg bolts were so tight from the factory that I had to run out and buy a "special" hex wrench, as all the ones I had would just round off. In the end, it took probably 75 foot pounds of torque. And when they did finally break loose, each one made mighty "POP", and white smoke rings shot out - seriously. No way would I ever attempt to do this to another V-Strom without some way to heat those 4 little chrome, panhead hex bolts to almost cherry red first.

Something seldom mentioned is that when you are a former racer from years ago but now much older, when out in the boonies off roading a dual sport a little heavier and down tuned bike will keep you in check somewhat as you know its limitations where as on a plated MX bike you will likely be launching off this and that with abandon! Last thing anyone wants is to be hurt miles from help. That being said when in my 30's i took my plated XR600 around my local mx track cautiously for 4 laps and then as i realized how good the susp was handling this cery rough ungroomed track I turned up the pace! I was pounding through deep rollers on route to a low ramp jump when the chain broke in 4th gear pinned just before the jump. The motor went from full rpm to a dead stop with a loud crack sound! I had my weight back but with no driving wheel on the ramp the bike went into what was the nearest endo situation possible where i nose wheelied for over 100ft before the back end came down and just in time to go off another drop off with no driving wheel! Close call! The broken chain had destroyed the rear chain guide and wrapped the countershaft sproket breaking the case saver. These bikes while not having high HP do have a lot of usable power and torque so i recommend changing out the stock chain for an RK or Tsubaki and to run enough chain slack as they are a very long travel bike. The XR600 didnt have elec start and i see the XR650L with its elec start making it a better choice for a big bore dual sport. Great bikes that can take you anywhere and keep the MX'r in you slightly tamed which is IMO a good thing

Is it clattery at low rpm like bottom of the gear once you start accelerating? (Sounds like it's comming from front sprocket but I can't tell) Mine is after doing this wondering if that's normal

You'll need these 4mm and 5mm allen key. 8, 12 and 13 mm wrench. Needle nose pliers. Regular pliers. Clip pin pliers. Also I used vice grips to remove the shifter post. Blue lock tight. I think that's it.

FWIW - 2022 Ram 2500 long bed w/ 6.4L, 2WD, 8 spd auto, towing Grand Design MK2670- pretty much the same weight- and a 1300 lb golf cart in the bed @ 70-72 MPH on fairly flat interstate (Southeast US- some hills but no mountains) I consistently get 9 to 9.5 MPG. Without the golf cart I have hit 10.2 MPG.

Hello, I think that the v strom is not the best motorcycle, but it is worth every dollar. I have had several motorcycles and with this motorcycle I enjoy every day, 70% asphalt and 30% dirt roads. Before I had the 2016 model, now 2021.

Hi Many thanks for the video. I am stuck in this process. I did the brake side first it’s ok but adjusting it is quite difficult. I am stuck with the shifter side as to add the extender I need the small nuts to come off but they aren’t. The are quite delicate as well and I don’t want to use force. I have used wd40 and tried some force but they are not budging. Any suggestions plz?

The maintenance schedule is a deal breaker for the 450. I went with the 300L. Still looking at adding the 650L. Ive got my xr80 from 1981 that still runs. Those air cooled bikes are bullet proof.

Videos like this are very helpful as I'm on the cusp of trading my 2012 Laramie 1500 in on a newer used Ram 4X4 2500. I decided on a 2022 or newer Power Wagon for its better off road capability since we'll be trailering into some remote lakes and streams to enjoy Mother Nature and some fishing. The trailer we've picked out is the Coachman Apex Nano which packs a lot of utility into a 23ft trailer. The trailer's GVW is 4,400 lbs with a tongue weight of about 400 lbs so no problems there.

I'll say one thing for you - AT LEAST you didn't allow your crumb snatchers to rev up and ride those race bikes in your neighborhood and particularly on your property right beside your neighbor. I wish my nextdoor neighbor was as considerate of others as you. I'm going to have to enforce the municipal code for my area and nip the loud noise in the bud before I lose control of my patience. I have no peace now in my own home.

Why dont u just take the thermostat out of the thermostat housing? In cold weather the motor wont burn fuel efficiently and the gas will find its way to the oil sump, which will degrade the oil. Bad for moving parts.

I want one of these SO bad over a DRZ-400SM because I am 6’4” tall and 240 lbs. I love the fit on this but need it to be a SuperMoto, I just can’t believe something with Honda in its name has the ECU issue, unless it was done on purpose as the cheapest way to get it to market for GUBMENT purposes or whatever. I mean I don’t wanna drop the coin and then new rims and rubber AND an ECU and fuel management. 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤔🤔
