    Great interview... Up until 42:42. Just take a look at Hamas/Palestinians threatening and perpetrating horrific violence on Israeli civilians. Islamic Hamas has *always* openly threatened Jewish Israelis...yet they still caught the State of Israel off guard. You missed the mark with this example.

    Watching Lee Morrison demonstrate a technique is like watching someone get hit by a truck. It's over in seconds. That said his program goes deep into soft skills and psychology, which will usually keep you out of trouble in the first place. Geoff Thompson and Peter Consterdine are also titans of self protection.

    Let me get this straight. Your PTSD is based on what you did to somebody else? You sign up for the military so you can illegally invade another country. You're mad at the guy that shooting at you because he barricaded some women and children? You don't know what trauma is.

    Hello, Joe. This is Rigo Hook, we were Facebook friends back when i was on Facebook. Totally agree with your pyramid. I spend way to much time to learn the latest deadly techniques, wich never did me much good out on the doors when i was a bouncer. But when i brought my deadlift up to 600 and the other lifts accordingly, everything changed for the better. That said, being a scaffolder in my nine-to-five, i was always kinda strong and fit. But some real strength training made all the stuff i knew way more effortless. Greetings from Vienna

    I does seem that having physical skills would make the stuff before that would be much more accessible. Even possibly to the level the stuff like talking your way out of the situation would not be available without a confidence in the physical skills.

    Thank you for this interview. A question: Why don't we say Sex- Based Violence anymore ? That is really what we are taking about here. The term 'Gender' has no real meaning and using it interchangeably with the term 'Sex' which is very clear, muddies the waters in the current ideological climate, (to the detriment of women and girls) imho.

    Boxings only obvious weakness is that it’s stance leaves the groin open, and it doesn’t train to deal with kicks. Not enough low line awareness. A good structure: Teach practical self defense first to get them started, phase into sport competition.

    Defendu was a course taught to the police. Gutterfighting was the method of combatives taught to military troops , SOE and OSS. Also, the pamphlets published by Fairbairn for civilian consumption during his times of financial troubles did not demonstrate the full military Gutterfighting combative method taught to WWII allied forces. I was taught by a decorated WWII Army light infantry commando veteran in my youth. There were some kano Jiujitsu/ judo takedowns taught in the military Gutterfighting combatives along with the unarmed strikes, silent killing and melee weapons. But those whom learned only from books and pamphlets wouldn't know this. Also, Eric Sykes taught SOE agent Nancy Wake, when W.E. Fairbairn was on loan to the Americans and Canadians, and she was the only allied personnel with a confirmed kill using unarmed methods during WWII on the western front. Captain Allan C. Smith was the grandfather of modern military combatives based upon Japanese Kano Jiujitsu & Boxing during WW1 long before W.E. Fairbairn's service in Shanghai. Captain Allan C. Smith taught the exact same unarmed strikes, takedowns and strangles during WW1 that Fairbairn later taught during WW2. But sure, Fairbairn gets the glory as the father of modern military combatives cause he was British.

    I had a friend I used to train with. One day he just stopped and said he didn't want to live in a world where he was always concerned about being attacked. I have trained for over 30 years (enjoyed I might add) and have never been, or forecee being in an incident.

  • @CastleHassall
    @CastleHassall3 ай бұрын

    yes but it can happen, even to those who train.. but you lessen your chances of being attacked as people can sense when people are trained and usually try to avoid that if looking for a victim

    I only heard of Richard consciously for the first time last year. I have been minding my own business, teaching people to avoid confrontation in the civilian environment on the one hand whilst, like you guys, I have taught specialist military units extreme physical violence and presidential bodyguards in several countries a hybrid mixture of the two. Just recently I connected with Richard and Chris via LinkedIn and it was so refreshing to realize that I was not alone. Avoidance is the only real ethical way forward. Physical abilities are for those that have failed to communicate.

    Look Joe, define streetfight. I was a bouncer for 18 years, and if we ever had a weekend without a fight, we got nervous. We were like,man, next weekend it's about to blow up. You do the maths now how many street fights i had. At least if you count every struggle where you pulled a drunk guy out of the club, that did'nt want to leave. Wich is, in my opinion, still kind of a fight, just at a low volume. My adrenaline went up exactly the same way as if i had a punchout. So this 600 fight guys are to 99,9% just boasting, i give you this. But some had this amount of fights. They just don't talk about it with confidence, because they know how this sounds like....

  • @joesaundersau
    @joesaundersau Жыл бұрын

    Good point, Rigo. I tend to treat occupational fights as a different category, and if I think about my bouncing days I tend to think of the “fights” as the ones where strikes were thrown with intent to do harm. Physical evictions that were more restraint and removal probably outnumbered the fights 5-1, but I still probably had 100+ of the punchy stompy ones. But not exactly match fights on the pavement with a cheering audience.

    Lee is really good at what does. And a great chap. I love Geoff too. I was in maximum security prison looking at long sentence and in the post a book came. With a very odd title " The Elephant 🐘 and the twig" it turned out to exactly what l needed to survive and make something positive in my time there. So a big fan of Geoff too. Notice how the real people, the ones who don't promote them selves and spread bs are usually a really lovely bunch of nice people
