The ability to physically defend yourself against violence can make your life much safer. But violence never just comes out of the blue. There is always a build-up. In consequence, almost all violent situations could be avoided with situational awareness, smart behavior and applied conflict-resolving communication strategies.
In this workshop you will learn a practical approach on how to prevent violence and deescalate dangerous situations.
Workshop content
The seminar is delivery over two days, with the first day focusing on social violence and the second day focusing on predatory violence.
Day One will feature education on the following:
What is social violence and how is it different to predatory violence?
What are the causes of social violence?
Social situational awareness
Managing fear and adrenaline
Verbal de-escalation and problem solving
Physical intervention in non-life threatening situations
Day Two will feature the following:
Introduction to predatory psychology
Identifying set ups, manipulations, and scouting
Making yourself a harder target
Warning signs in relationships
Using communication to create safer situations
Combative self-defence against predators (including the Senshido "Shredder")
Post-incident management
Target group
All those who want to protect themselves from aggression, assaults and violence
People who occupationally have to deal with emotional/alcoholic/aggressive people

Joe Saunders is Australia's leading expert in violence prevention. He is a lifelong martial artist, an instructor under Richard Dimitri's Senshido, as well as a former international-level athlete in the sports of judo, belt-wrestling and sumo wrestling. He has spent 15 years working in conflict professions including bouncing, bodyguarding, security consulting and parenting.
