BM is definitely an acquired taste. When I first watched this video (2023) I was like "what's this noise!?", now (2024) I don't like it yet, but it has become tolerable.

Hello Farvann, respect for emphasizing to focus on love and make good hints to avoid to focus one’s life around hate. What you are talking about is the reality both you and me and lots of others who experienced that. Question is somebody is strong enough to overcome hate, and realize love? When somebody is in a personal crisis, music can be a remedy, and listening music helps to overcome that. Also important to have a scepticism about the lyrics, do not follow anything or any ideology blindly. Metal helped us to learn to think, this was (one of)the lessons. Farvann, it would also worth a video to discuss what energies a music (for example black metal) can transmit or how we can utilize that, also what is the influence on the mood, on the mind, etc..

Hello Farvann, you raised a very important topic, and I respect your open minded aproach. Also I like your videos about black metal where you make joke about the topic, those can make joke from a topic who really understands it, I think you transcended the “black metal” phenomenon and able to view it from a different pespective. This is unique, keep this approach.

Darkthrone from Norway are still staying underground after nearly 40 years, and refuses to play live anywhere live for any amount of money offered. They are still making new albums, but that's it.

I have seen this so many times in real life. A metalhead standing and looking macho, but as soon as someone speak to them they are suddenly behaving like 13 year old girls. Fun fact: According to Norwegian police, there is less problems om metal festivals than with other music genres. My wife says metal festivals are the most friendly places too...

to think that people actually believe that the message of music is only to be found in the most clearly articulated parts of it (the lyrics) is actually kinda sad. Also believing that nazism is just whats explicated in tangible political messages like "lets kill x" is really narrow-minded. Nazism moves the masses by interconnecting love for the motherland, glorification of violence and hate, xenophobia.

Being the only Christian man in a melodic death metal band while your childhood friend is yelling shit like this is quite entertaining. "No more beer for 30 minutes. God commands it. Also, your leads are sounding like slop." "Okay... Sorry..." "Let's order a Pizza." The whole band erupts in a cacophony of... "HELL YEAH!" "Alright, alright... Just don't burn down a church. It's bad for the environment."

This is how I look at it... if you're a fash, and you make non-political (or even political music disguised as non-political -- NSBM is a spectrum in this way for sure as are most forms of racism) but you're not a politically active individual pushing a dangerous ideology in a substantial way, then I don't care at all. Drudkh's song about the UPA comes to mind, which in modern Ukraine is almost akin to a Che Guevara -- the reality of the two is not as black and white as the left or right want to portray it as and it makes sense why people would use either as a symbol of rebellion against tyranny. I've got friends who, to me, believe some absolutely WILD shit, but they have zero affect on the world. They contribute nothing external to their own lives, good or bad. They play games, they make art and music, they believe some crazy shit, whatever. People suck off Jimmy Hendrix and the dude was a woman beater. But here's the real fact of the matter: Most people don't give a shit and the people complaining live in an entirely different world, so who cares.

Honestly, I listen to metal (mainly thrash and melodeath) because it's fun and I enjoy banging my head, but it's also challenging music As someone with ADHD. When I hear a metal song it takes me a few moments to recognize that I heard that song (beyond the fact that I don't remember song names lol) When I hear a pop song I recognize it in half a second because it's not challenging (there are good pop songs) but most of it is just pure crap which does not require talent. To make a good metal song you need talent or hard work.

The problem with metal heads in general is too many of you care about subgenre elitism. Metal is metal. Get over it. Some thrash metal is good, some is bad. Some black metal is good, some bad. Whatever, you like metal, so just like metal. The whole genre is already niche as it is. Right off the bat 80% of humans on earth have never even heard real metal for more than 2 seconds. Watching the 5 people on planet earth who even know what metal is, argue about its subgenres, is insane.

Crossover: this term can mean anything but initially Crossover (in Metal) was a mix of Thrash Metal and Hardcore Punk, stuff like D.R.I. or Suicidal Tendencies. If you are a Thrash Metal fan you should definitely check out D.R.I. Industrial Metal: Come on, Rammstein is NOT Industrial Metal. Industrial Metal is stuff like Godflesh, Malhavoc, Ministry, Malformed Earthborn, Meathook Seed, Optimum Wound Profile etc. Doom: If you listen only to Black Sabbath because of the Blues influences you should check out some old school Sludge bands. Sludge is basically a mix of Doom Metal, Blues, Hardcore Punk and somtimes also Psychedelic Rock. EyeHateGod even call their music "Southern Hardcore Blues". Dopethrone are also very Blues influenced. Generally Sludge deserves a category of its own. Also i somehow miss Crust Punk and D-Beat here. Bands like Amebix and Discharge had a massive influence on all extreme Metal genres from Thrash Metal and Black Metal to Death Metal and Grindcore. Bands who combine Crust and Black Metal a.k.a "Blackened Crust" are also worth mentioning for instance Martyrdod, Young And In The Way or even some mid phase albums of Darkthrone. And i miss War Metal on this list.

To answer the "if you ever tried to kill yourself write a comment": I have been suicidal ever since I was 11 but it became worse until I actually tried two times and ended up in a mental hospital at 17, but I think I cannot judge if that is brave or not but I can say that lots of the time the people I have met there have gone through a lot. And it was brave to keep going with all that stuff, so like in a way people that commit suicide, it takes a lot of courage to commit but after all the pain it's less harder. I cannot speak for myself in terms of bravery but now I am doing better, I guess? And I think in most cases it's not cowardice, it depends on the motive. I mean sure there are exceptions but most of the time it's due to mental illness or a bad situation. In my case it was a sort of battle between me and me and attempting is hard to do but so is resisting the urge to do so, it just haunted me every second of the day for years. I never write comments but yeah I tried
