Earplugs don't make concerts dead silent and how does balancing out the mix make for less energy as opposed to just hearing the drums and bass? I was born a Metal Head. I just didn't know it until my uncle was playing Black Sabbath's first album "Black Sabbath". That was in 1970 when the album was released; I was three years old. I vaguely remember jumping around to Black Sabbath at that age in my uncle's house. My family would tell me about the day I heard Black Sabbath the first time and that I was hooked. Growing up, I was all about Metal in all it's forms. Although I do listen to Classical music among other genres; Punk, Grunge, Hard Rock, Humor Core, Shock Rock, Grind Core, etc., etc.. Even Country (Pre 1995. after that it went too pop and no longer had real meaning). I do enjoy Classical because a lot of Metal is Classically inspired. I have been to countless concerts. I have watched bands grow from their infancy at clubs, events, back yard parties, and even from their garages. I have listened to, watched, met and even hung out with so many that I could not even begin to list them all. There were so many great bands that were never signed or even put out a self release. I wish I had all their music in my collection as well. The 80's was nuts. I am now 57 years old. To this day, when it comes down to my primary musical tastes, I look at it like this... When I turn on my music, if it causes everyone within earshot to cry, scream and run to cower in a corner or under a rock, then that is my kind of music... The heavier, the better.

I read that when we are young we put so much stock into things like music because we dont have enough life experience to really have an identity past superficial things like music and other interests so we define our entire identity using those. I'm glad most of us grow out of that because there is so much good music out there. There is some absolute crap from all genres because the "artists" don't know what they are doing/just there for the money, the chicks, whatever. There are great manufactured band and crap manufactured bands. Examples of good:- The monkees, around before I was born, and Babymetal, don't dump on Babymetal. Bad:- anything that came out of the "reality TV" shows like the voice, America/Britain/Australia got talent ( they didn't ).

They dubbed the film in Italian!😳 Let me see RTL (Radio Télévision Luxembourg, German speaking channels). Here, Charlie Sheen is arguing with Kristy Swanson (The Chase) in German!😵 The tv channels are treating movies like Saturday morning cartoons! Dubbing over works (movies and TV series) into the country's official language!!🤯 In Warsaw Pact region, foreign movies (bootleg copies on TV) were ALVAYS subtitled. All movies and shows were broadcasted in their respected countries of production. I agree with most of those, and am guilty of many of those stereotypes. The one thing I would argue is most metal heads not only listen to other kinds of music, they have BETTER tastes in other kinds of music! Metal fans are music fanatics first, metal is the gateway to this, and we tend to enjoy some of the better 90s stuff like Portishead or Mazzy Star, weird avante garde shit like the Goblin soundtrack and Tangerine Dream, and folk music like Sandy Denny and Townes Van Zandt. Also non-metal made by metal heads is almost always top notch, be it mid-era Ulver, This Empty Flow, or Opeth's Damnation...what was that about metal heads explaining things again?

I can say that metal is the best because when I was discovering it I quite literally went through, clears throat, classic pop, rap, underground music, singer-songwriters, so called alternative music, classic rock a close second, boy bands, top 40, punk rock, pop punk, most of the cores, new metal, thrash metal, speed metal, power metal, death metal, a bit of techno, dance new wave, hard rock, classic country, southern pop, and finally classic metal where I came firmly to rest. Actually I keep bouncing back and forth between power metal and classic metal recently.

Or, at least if it's in a language you understand well enough, to get a general idea of what the song is about, even if the lyrics are mostly indecipherable. After listening to a half-dozen songs from the same unfamiliar subgenre, you can generally pick up on running themes for that subgenre well enough to have a vague idea of what is going on: "Oh, I see - this doom metal thing is all about the pain, the suffering, the misery, the dread and despair! And thrash metal is usually critical of government and religion, and all it takes is a glance at all the baphomets, crosses, and pentagrams all over a black metal album cover to guess that the songs are all about puppies and flowers and a nice Sunday in church!"

I personally got in to listening to metal because I really liked the genre and everything related to it. Before that I was listening to everything that I can, but after I started hearing some metal songs or other heavy genre's songs, it finally clicked with me that this is the genre that I was looking for. And since then this was and still is my go to genre of music. Exception been soundtrack made specifically for the movies or video games. And if I like them, I add them to my playlist. p.s - I understand this video was made just for $hits and giggles but I decided to leave info on why I like this genre on music anyway.
