Cole The Cornstar

Cole The Cornstar

My name is Cole and I love farming with my family, diving into nearly impossible massive projects, and trying challenging things. Join me on my journey of failures and successes as I learn how to navigate life as a farmer and more importantly, as a young man.

I am a 4th generation family farmer from Iowa. My vision is to educate the world about what it actually takes to feed the world. My mission is to prove that dreams come true if they are attacked with an unrelenting and unwavering force.

Ain't nothing to it, but to do it.

My grandfather was a many-generation farmer, he drove my dad away from the farm, he didn't want my dad to farm with him for some reason (this was in the late 50s) so it all ended there.

19:30 I didn’t top 100 pounds until my freshman year of high school. And I was 6’2”. Graduated at 6’4” and 125. I couldn’t gain weight until I was in my early 30s, no matter how much I ate or worked out. I think I was 150-160 at 30. Of course now I’m pushing 50 and have serious dad bod at 230.

You non livestock guys always expect sympathy and a pat on the back during your busy 4x4 season… wanna put your mental health to the test? I challenge you to combining calving, haying, and planting season… not trying to bust your balls, I enjoy your videos on rainy evenings like this but just please just quit being such so whiny

So if the 1 and 1 corn yielded 400+ bushels per acre, why not just space the corn that way and not interplant soybeans? Or am I not understanding how the yield per acre is calculated?

Do farmers ever decide not to farm for a season? Just pay the rent and do nothing because they're likely to lose that much anyway if they farm. Obviously there are other expenses in addition to the rent, but in this scenario you'd sub-let the land to a neighbor ,which should cover a lot of those. So does that ever happen? I'm guessing the government subsidies are the thing keeping farmers from trying this? BTW it's been some time since i've watched your channel .I had no idea you were married with kids already! Congrats!!😃

Your tractor should be covered by warranty because of the issue you mentioned. CaseIh will cover it up to 4000 hrs. My dealer just did 2 similar tractors this winter for the same problem. Check it out.

Coolant in the oil sucks. I suggest pulling an oil sample 3/4 through the oil change interval possibly catching problems early. I’ve caught coolant issues twice by sampling. Good luck this year

I believe you can do a Cummins swap. Definitely something worth looking into if you think you will have it awhile. A-lot of issues with the Iveco engines. I know a neighbor just put a new engine in his and it was 75000 just for engine. That or 65000 for rebuild but parts were on back order. Wish you the best.

Yay, we finally get to hear about the results of the rock drone - awesome! Do you guys have a rock picker? I can't recall having seen one around the farm but look forward to seeing this autonomous digger thing. Millennial Farmer has a picker and he grabs rocks from the cab with it lol. Really looking forward to seeing how the work you've done into soil conditioning works out and any yield differences this year from that effort! Ah, not autonomous but driven - very nice job!

the best way to check is to pull the oil pan and fill the coolant system up you'll see where it's leaking. it could be the liner or it could be the o ring on the liner. that can be fixed in the tractor. you need to know which liner it is, that's the reason for pulling the oil pan.
