I used to volunteer at a Habitat for Humanity reclaimed items store. Radiator were so in demand we had an email list of folks who wanted notifications as soon as they became available. They were never in stock long enough to make it onto the sales floor. Historic refurbishment folks payed top dollar for some of these.

@@maureenfitzgerald1895 The radiant floor heating is more efficient and comfortable because it's more conformal to the entire space instead of having only a point source of heat in each room. A lot of people here in New England love to use it, I was especially grateful when we had wind chills down to about -70 degrees in the mountains 5 years ago.

Radiators can be taken apart (and re-assembled) easily for transport. When I converted my attic from radiators to forced air I was working by myself, so, out of necessity, I took them apart. Easy to clean or media-blast while they're apart, as well. Definitely a market for those things.

Sedrick, your doing a great job editing these videos, lots of humorous inserts for sure. Roman is a machine. Years ago when I worked for a glass and mirror company in Naples, Florida I was working with two other guys installing windows in a new condo on the beach. I did what you did Roman to see if I could influence my co-workers to sing or hum "If I only had a brain" from the Wizard of Oz. I started humming and whistling the song and within about 10 minutes the other two also started humming it. I helped a friend of mine when I lived outside of Chicago years ago with moving radiators. It is back-breaking work for sure. Keep going guys, I love the content and appreciate all of the hard work you all are doing to realize Cole's and Nave's dream house. May God bless you all. Cheers from this old retired coot living the dream in Tennessee.

This video brought back wonderful memories of remodeling my wife’s home in Watertown, MA. We found a man who refurbishes old radiators. He came to her house in a van and picked up all of the radiators. This guy was about 7’ tall and about 350 pounds. He and his helper got 10 radiators out of the house and to their shop. He sandblasted all of them followed by powder coating and baking in an oven at about 500 degrees. He returned them in a few months as we had remodeling to finish. All of them were absolutely beautiful in a deep brownish bronze. All the original designs showed wonderfully. They were all pieces of art. After reconnecting, they worked amazingly. The man who did the work was from Africa. He was always looking for radiators removed from buildings being demolished. It took me about one year to finish her home and get it sold so we could move to Oregon. We met at Iowa State University. She was always on my mind over the years. I finally found her with the internet and eventually married in Canon Beach, Oregon. She passed in 2018 of cancer on the day of our new home closing. Our song was “Our House” by Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young.

I love old farm homes .. Being from Tenn , I started taking pics of old log homes & out buildings in the mountains when I was young .. Fast fwd a few years & my job took me to the midwest & western states ... I started taking pics in Iowa , Mn & S Dakota of old homesteads & the progression of houses built on them .. Turns out , most mid westerners dont tear down buildings but repurpose them ... I asked many times if the farm owners would let me take pics & most times they didnt mind & even gave me the history of when they were built & who lived in them... Turns out it was generations of the same family in most cases... My favorite was a farm in the middle of S Dakota & the farmer showed me where his family built a sod house in the 1870's .. Then it progressed to a claim shanty , still standing, right through to the house he grew up in as did his father ... It had been updated & remodeled a few times & he was nice enough to give me a tour ... It was always fascinating to me to get a glimpse of how folks lived before electricity & all the modern convienances we have today...

Big mistake getting rid of the current heating system. Heated floors are nice but you have tall ceilings. I’m afraid that you will find it inadequate.

Cole, Those old radiators are worth money as resale. not just as scrap. In Pennnsylvania a few years ago I sol them to an antique store that has an outlet for the old raditors. they are a good way to heat the houses.

Gentlemen, You did a great job removing the radiators! Don't know what you plan to do with them, but some people like to restore them - as old models are hard to replace. Maybe someone will buy them from you. On the huge water tank downstairs, you seem to be planning on tearing it out. Is there any way you might want to keep it, by cutting off the top half and turning it into a utility sink? Something else? If not, you will need a small access hole on the top, that you can run a hose into, and a small water pump. If you can get one with 3/4" male inlet / outlet, just attach it to a standard garden hose on either end, to get the water out. You'll need a reciprocating saw with a few metal cutting blades to cut through the the top half. Take a look inside. There might be a later of heavy sediment in the bottom, just like an old water heater would have. You might need a few rags and buckets to scoop sediment out. Cut off the ends and cut what's left into pieces you can get out through a window or door. It's basically like pulling an old, huge water heater. Welders have cutting torches that might cut through it faster, if you want to try that, and there's nothing flammable in the area. I know you will get it done, if you work together at it. I have faith in you. Be safe. 😊

You guys, are doing fantastic but I did worry about in the beginning you were tearing out the old insulation and fiber glass has a cancer warning on it now. Those fibers are still in the house even though it's cleaned up. Glad Roman came aboard he is so cool to listen too love his accent.

I’m willing to bet the insulation was blown in cellulose (shredded/powdered newspaper). Still not great for the lungs, but it’s not fiberglass. I’ve worked with it before and it’s ugly stuff with a distinctive look.
