    Thanks so much for this tutorial- it inspired me to order a nebula light. I found on on Amazon for only $15 but, when I opened it up, I discovered the motor is no longer a plain DC motor, they now use a mini stepper motor (5 wires)! 🤦‍ I don't suppose you would have any ideas on how to modify your tutorial to support using a stepper..? 🤔

    That's great to hear... the inspiration part, not the stepper motor version (That's a pain) I'm about to make a full-on Stepper Motor tutorial for ESPHome and Home Assistant. TBH, by the time you purchase all the extra components to drive the stepper motor yours has... it'll probably be a lot easier to grab the same Nebular Light I used. They are still available - See the link in the original tutorial. amzn.to/4axHx5r

    I'm wondering if I could use this for a set of blinds that are pull rather than twist to open and close blinds (not pull up/down). How you would take the small travel of the server guessing 50 > 100 mm and get it to pull 200mm on the blinds.

  • @3ATIVE
    @3ATIVE10 күн бұрын

    Not sure if a Servo would be the right choice here, as it may not be able to pull hard-enough. - _Especially as you want a 1:2 (2x) ratio on it._ I would go for a Stepper Motor for blinds, etc. With many more revolutions available, it would be easier to gear down to get the extra torque required. #StayTuned one of my up-coming tutorials is for Stepper Motors !!! ;)

    Thank you so much for the great tutorial. My question is that it appears as though on and off are "state changes" that trigger the node to run on Tplink Kasa switches (Master). Brightness changes do not trigger the node to run. I can change the brightness, turn off the master and turn it back on and it works. Any thoughts on why this is an issue?

  • @3ATIVE
    @3ATIVE14 күн бұрын

    Thank you for the supportive words. I'm not sure what you are trying to do however, this tutorial is for one (or many) "Lights" to follow a "Master Light". So, I guess if your Master SWITCH is controlling a Light then this would work by following the State Change of that first Light.

  • @pjarbit
    @pjarbit12 күн бұрын

    @@3ATIVE If I change the brightness, nothing happens. I have to turn the master off then on again for it to register any change to the brightness. It seems that there is no change in "state" of the brightness unless an on/off command is sent. I am using your most recent code. I am using TPLINK and MIBOXER are my master and slave. (Primary and Secondary in 2024 to be politically correct)

  • @pjarbit
    @pjarbit12 күн бұрын

    Let me clarify. If I change the brightness on my TPlink deco switch (master) the master will change brightness with no change on the slave. If I then turn off the master and then back on: both the master and slave will register the newly set brightness. Changing the master brightness will not trigger an event change in the slave switch on its own without an on/off from the master. Is this how the YAML code is setup?

    @@raoulvisser2092 Sorry fella, I got confused - I thought you were the guy using an ESP32 in the IKEA Air Quality Sensor. Hmmm, the Air Filter board shouldn't be too hard to 'reverse engineer'. It's just a PWM for the Fan and MOSFET for its 24V supply. Then there's a "Pulse" coming back out.

    @@3ATIVE No your right, I am that guy. just got my D1 Ali deleverd yesterday. Is the 24v that the IKEA pcb is passing though the Fans being manipulated by the Clk? of is CLK modifying the speed inside the FAN? Ive checked a YT vid. saying that if the PMV isnt getting a signal it will go Hi. So if i just connect the GPIO CLK wire to the CLK Fan wire. It could work. what do you think?

    @@raoulvisser2092 OIC... So here's the run down: CLK (Green Wire) is the PWM for Fan Speed. FG (Blue Wire) Pulse out from the Fan. The White wire (connected to the R13) is how the ESP turns the fan's 24V On&Off via that MOSFET (Q2). The Idea being that the fan isn't powered all the time - Like when you're not spinning the fan.

    Very informative, great to know that when I migrate from docker to HA OS that these ESP-home can still be downgraded.

    Yes, exactly - It's always best to have the option.

    Other Home Assistant Add-Ons are available and maybe downgraded in the same way.

    Where do you get some more of those nice GIF's? Can't seem to find any. Thanks!

    I guess you could Google for some. However, the ones I show/used I made myself, using MDI Icons and PhotoShop.

    @@3ATIVE You mean you just rotated an MDI in PS and exported it as a GIF? Something like that?

  • @3ATIVE
    @3ATIVEАй бұрын

    @@lverlaek Kinda... You have to make "frames", on separate layers: - Each one rotated a little - Added to PS's "Timeline" - Then you can export as an animated GIF. Here's a nice article from Adobe: www.adobe.com/uk/creativecloud/photography/discover/animated-gif.html
