🔥 HOT HACK: Shrink Home Assistant Storage to the MAX! 🔥

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

By Default Home Assistant will save every Entity's State to the Database. This can result in some huge files. Not good if you are running a Raspberry Pi with an SD Card.
Here's what I do to keep my History, Database AND my Backups tiny.

I have an _setup folder because I have split my configuration.yaml file to point to various other folders. It's a way or organising it. If you add this line to your configuration.yaml file: recorder: !include_dir_merge_named _setup/recorder Then you can make the folders and .yaml files I show in the video.

Hi, nice work!! Just one question, because I'm not sure I'll understand it correctly, this doesn't delete every 14 days the energy history? I'm just not that familiar yet with HA. 😊

Thank you. No, this will only delete "entities" history, not the Energy History - You'll have to delete the actual Logs files for that.

So instead of an "exclude" section with sensors/things I don't want recorded, I have an "include" section with just the sensors/things I actually want to record. (If you only have an "include" section and no "exclude" section, then by default all sensors/things that are not in the "include" list don't get recorded) For me maintaining the list is much easier if by default all new sensors/things are not recorded unless I add them to the list...

@@3ATIVE I've had my setup this way ever since I found it in the docs about 2-3 years ago, no idea if it was there before that time 🙂

Hmm my HA backup is 25 gb, not a problem on a Proxmox VM 😄

Oh Man, that's HUGE!!! Do you really need to store all that data? - Also, good luck restoring a Backup - It must take days! 😮
