It makes me wonder what'll happen to English. Will English as we know it be like Latin - a language of empires, of liturgy, and literature, that will fracture into 10s of languages while English fades?

Spain(ishtan) is trying for the last 3 centuries to do the same with us Catalans, Basques, Galician-Portuguese and Asturian-Leonese that Russian controlled Soviet Union tried to do to Livonians and Baltics in general (and any others not being culturally Russian). Very sad to see a language disappear becayse every language in the world is a unique window where you can see the world in a different way a treasure tgat must be preserved just like animal and plant spices gave to be preserved fir the sake of biodiversity.😢

There is a lot more. Russia took people to siberia and replaced them with russians. Also there is another language in Estonia called võro

The Baltic countries where the Livonian and other languages used to be spoken should invest in getting people to learn those languages. There are some countries in Europe where people hardly speak their local language anymore and the governments encourage people, mostly their children, to learn those languages so they don't disappear. Maybe Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania already have those projects in connection to for example the Livonian and Ingrian languages. If they don't they should start them.
