Solo in Thailand's Border market 🇹🇭🇲🇲 ROAD TRIP
Episode 2 of the Burma Border Run!
I am travelling the entire Thai Burma border, from North to South, and today we have arrived in Mae Sai, a border town synonymous for many backpackers as the place to extend your Thai visa on via runs of the past. But this town is famous for its markets where goods pour in from not just Burma but China and beyond. Now the border is closed what will we experience in Mae Sai? I hit the markets and meet the people from Myanmar that call this part of Thailand home.

Thank you.
I'm very grateful to YT gods for recommending me your channel
I just ran across your page. Really enjoying it. The fact you speak both Thai and Burmese is fascinating as I live in Thailand and struggle with one new language at my age.

Thanks for the kind words! I lived in both for some time, but don't be fooled - I don't speak either very well!

How would rate Burmese vs Thai in terms of difficulty?

It's hard to get your ear around Burmese at first - I couldn't make out distinct sounds for a long time, but eventually I got tuned in to it - where as Thai sounds I find to be crystal clear. However, reproducing those sounds in Thai is not easy for most speakers of Western Languages. Burmese isn't super easy, but I personally found the tones that Burmese uses easier to pronounce than the tones Thai uses at first. Both have reasonably straight forward and pleasing grammar (As opposed to the nightmare of Russian grammar!). But I'm no expert in any of these, they all have their fun parts to learn, and infuriating bits to get stuck on!

@@dontlookeast In your opinion, between the complex grammar of Russian and the tones in Thai/Burmese, which is easier to learn ?

@@RovexHD Honestly, the easiest languages to learn are those that you are most excited/motivated to learn. Which is why I struggled to learn basic French at school but powered through Russian as an adult!
