Ban Rak Thai is worth a visit (I liked the dried fruits, coconut roast almonds and tea 😂) although a man made tourist attraction it has a great deal of charm. I loved the orientalism of the boats on the misty lake

BRT is certainly Disney esque these days with Chinese boats and hiso hotels asking whopping big rates. I head back with some Canadians visiting on a few weeks on a motorcycle trip... Not sure where that momento guy filled with war relics is around the lake. Can you point me to the spot?

I went to the border two weeks ago and it was a proper military outpost with full detachment of soldiers still. No crossing except Burmese entering when surrendering a green card for day trips. Doesn't seem the crossing will reopen again any time soon. Thanks for the map location
