Hello, and welcome to our channel!
Now, a little about us. We are Brandon (Canadian) and Anja (German)- an International traveling couple.
Despite being new to this KZread thing, we have actually been traveling on and off for the past 7 years! We have lived in 8 countries together, and have recently reached the 50th of our 50 country goal together.
During this time, we've been asked, "why don't you guys start a KZread or travel blog?", several times by friends and family. We finally looked at each other and said, "why not?!".
If you share a love of food, culture and adventure, we would absolutely love you to subscribe and join us on this journey.
- Brandon & Anja
COUNTRY COUNTER GOAL: 50/50 🌍
Next goal...100!

Stevo from Jackass fame loves pickled onion monster munch so much he has the monster from the packet tattooed on him.
Love to you both because love is the answer. x
Why is it so many Americans & Canadians slate ( chastise ) our food, yet when they come here they stuff their faces as if food is going out of fashion. You don’t have to try and eat your own body weight daily, haven’t they heard of portion size.
This is 1 day out of 365. I don't know where you got the idea that we eat our own body weight daily? Most people also don't come to KZread for food entertainment and want to see just 2-3 dishes in a 3min video. It's also hard to rate a place based on just a couple of options. And most importantly, I don't think you actually saw us finish all these dishes in the video. We always have lots of leftovers, don't worry, we actually often travel with our own Tupperware. Lastly, I (Anja) am neither American nor Canadian so I guess you were only talking about Brandon and only stereotyping him...
Japanese curry sauce is derived from British curry sauce, using British army rations with curry powder in them. Like how Currywurst sauce was made with British army ration curry powder.
True. We just expected two slightly different sauces since they were called two different things on the menu. It was a tasty curry sauce, though, regardless. 😊
We always have Friday night 'spoons in our family! Everyone can choose different things - burgers, pizzas, gosh and chips. Two of us are vegan and there's always plenty to choose. It delivers Everytime! Nothing fancy. Decent food at good prices, cheap beer! Ps the mango chutney is usually served with their curries
That's very true! There really is something for everyone. We're actually looking forward to going back because there are so many more things to choose from. We still want to try the pizzas! We had a curry at Wetherspoons a week after we filmed this, and quite liked it!
I don't go there but it looks good to me
It's worth a visit, for sure!
Old Rosie cider!
We will have to try it!
I'm a Nova Scotia and these were some pretty poor choices. This is where students from Ontario would go.
You obviously didn't watch the video past the first few minutes then. Students from Ontario are going to The Canteen? To Mic Mac Tavern (a Dartmouth staple)? To Fisherman's Cove and Mahone Bay?? 😂
Mango chutney usually goes with a curry x
I am Moroccan and I would like to tell you that camel eyes are not edible, and if you want more laddah, add cumin and salt.
It tasted alright! Not something I would eat for pleasure, though. Haha.
they took the worst bananica😢😢😢😢
So we've been told. 😂 One day we will try the original.
As a Brit, food at a spoons is just ok, you go in knowing its not great but also knowing you can get a burger and a pint for £10. Its cheap and available in almost every town. The also often occupy cool old buildings, the favourites I've been in are the one in Bury St Edmunds and the one in Malvern for its view. Also is a shame about the Pizza as I had their spicy meat pizza and it was genuinely quite good. Also Aspalls cider is rather nice.
We went to the one near Liverpool Street station in London after this video, and it was quite cool! A few viewers have told us about some pretty interesting looking locations. Hopefully we can visit again, and finally try one of the pizzas.
Who told you hash browns don't belong on a fry up? As an Englishman I can tell you that a fry up without hash browns is no fry up at all :P
I few people! We had a fry up in our London food video, and we got multiple comments about there being a hashbrown there. They're so good, though!
If you’ve been in one Wetherspoons you’ve been in them all!!! Same decor, food and drink but most importantly it’s the SAME people in every one!!!!!!! It’s almost like they’re actually clones of each other then just rolled out with the furniture🤣🤣 love it!!!
Hahaha. The locations can be quite different though! A few viewers shared some locations of Wetherspoons near them, and they are in some pretty interesting buildings some times.
The best British cider is one called Cornish Rattler Cyder
We've had quite a few people suggest this! We will give it a go if we come across it the next time we're in the UK.
Its called black pudding, basically pigs blood
Curry thursday is blinding
We had a Wetherspoons curry a week or so after filming this. It was pretty decent!
The only place you'd see mango chutney on a regular basis in the UK is in Indian restaurants. Interesting choice for a breakfast condiment.
It was quite good on breakfast!
Lol. That guy is really funny. Lol.
Hahaha. Thanks!
Thanks for showing those Hungarian every day foods. Good show.
Thanks for watching!
If Brandon sat still and held a fishing rod, he would look like a gnome.
Maybe I am one? 🥸
so you ate english food where was the scottish food, welsh food and N Irish food!!!! the UK/GB isnt just england FFS get a education
It literally days LONDON in the title and thumbnail. Get an education and learn to read yourself. 😂
@@wherearewe-yt so english food then not british london is captial of england
@kablegames2446 And it's still all British at the same time. We can't exactly have dishes like roasts and fish and chips, and just call it English. I'm sure there are Scots, Welsh, and Northern Irish people out there who will claim some of these dishes as theirs. We are trying top dishes in London, many of which are popular elsewhere, too. Either way - they are all top dishes to try in London, which is the title of the video.
@wherearewe-yt legally there is no such thing as british as the UK/GB is not legally a country never has been we are all separate countries. Within the founding document of the union nowhere does it state a country or new country would be formed that document is still legal today what it does state is that there would be a political and economic union between the kingdoms
Can you do a video without the Beanie hat (tuke)?
Well, yeah, of course I could. Why? You want to see my bald head that bad? 😂
It’s cheap & cheerful, some people need to get over themselves. When you’re short of cash it’s there for you.
Agreed! Don't see why people complain about cheap prices. Not everyone can afford £7-8 pints. We are budget travelers. A cheap place for food and drinks is always welcome!
@@wherearewe-yt Yeah exactly! Some of the alcohol prices are cheaper than supermarkets. Great for a quick cheap post-work catch up with friends. Look forward to seeing what you guys are up to next! 😊
get rock sok
What is that? I saw photos of some sort of drink when I searched for it.
First time I seen you guys + you're great! Are you German?😉
Thanks! 😊 And you guessed correctly, I (Anja) am German. Brandon is Canadian, though.
Only snobs "hate" Spoons. It's not cordon bleu, but it's great value.
There's a lot of that in the comments section! Pretty divided. We enjoyed it!
you had a vegan sausage in a roll.... its not the same as a vegan sausage roll hehehehe
We had both. For breakfast it was the vegan sausage in the roll, but then later in the video we have the vegan sausage roll as well. Both were pretty good.
Can’t beat a bit of ‘Houses of Parliament’ (HP) sauce on sausage/bacon breakfast items
I never even thought about what the HP actually stood for. I suppose that explains the label..😂
kopperberg is pop not real cider
Pop usually doesn't have 7% alcohol, though 😂. Whatever it is, we like it 🤷😊
@@wherearewe-yt thats cos ur bloody heretics! go somerset, drink real cider...
the 'dick' in spotted dick is from an old Anglo Saxon word for Puddick, its just shortened to dick, this is also where the word pudding comes from
Try Henry Westons, they make very good cider, aswell as vintage cider which knocks your socks off.
We tried that in our first London video. I loved it..but that's the one Anja thought had the "piss taste" I was referring to in this video. 😂
@@wherearewe-yt Ah 🤣
that same meal in america would cost you $50
Which meal? We're currently visiting Canada (my home country), and I don't know of a single place we could get the amount of food and drinks we got at Wetherspoons for the price we paid.. Super affordable!
@@wherearewe-ytjust the breakfast
@CarlRencer Yikes! We are going to be in Seattle soon for a few days. Really excited to be there, but not looking forward to the prices. 😅
@@wherearewe-yt I'm in Tampa, and it's ridiculous.
Who goes to wetherspoons for asian food!!!Only most of Britain are asian thats who.
Love Weathersppons. You get what you pay for. Once I turned 18 that was my go to where I'm from because it was right next to the bus station so I could get drunk and get a bus home haha. The food is good if you don't have that much money and it will fill you up. Like I said, you get what you pay for. It's worth going to if you're on a budget :)
We agree for sure! We love cheap drinks and eats. If we lived in the UK, I could see us stopping by frequently for those cheap drinks promos. 🍸
Gregs is swill for the serfs.
Guess that's us! 😃😂
those are more of a wendy's hash brown, there are one or two others that also use the same hash brown also, i think maybe even a and w, may use them..............
We love A&W!
@@wherearewe-yt they are also available in stores like metro, price choppers, and costco, i dont have enough oil to fry them so i just bake them for about 10 min @ 450, if they dont have a light caramelizing, you can leave them in for longer, then try dipping them into various things like balsamic and olive oil, tartar sauce, you can also go in the other direction, and use things like clotted cream, blue cheese, jams and preserves, you can add them as a cheeky joke with a charcuterie plater, if you find them in a michelin cafe, you have hit the height of mediocrity, but if you find them in an oil branch then you found the order of fine dinning, 😜😜😜😜😜😜
1:37 your first mistake, you are supposed to have a beer with your full English
Do people do that?? Hahaha. We've heard it is the proper Wetherspoons way. 🫡🍻
I fully understand the "piss" taste reference for Cider, I've always thought it tastes like piss. I think Wetherspoons food is not bad, I've been there for food quite a lot.
I don't know, some ciders are just too fermented for me. They remind me of rotten fruit and the smell of a dark alley where people pee 😆😂
2 a penny 4 a penny hot cross buns.... yes i prefer standard hot cross buns over the tarted up to make them more expensive variety. So youve had some dick now... but what about ginger nuts?
😂😂😂 haha, we'll get those next time!
yeah the powder is to stop them sticking together
Minuto 25:12. El queso frito no es de Francia. Originalmente es del país vecino - Eslovaquia.
We were specifically talking about Trappist cheese. Not fried cheese in general.
We weren't talking about fried cheese specifically. That might be from Slovakia. We actually ate it there before. We just meant the type of cheese (Trappist). Apparently, that one is from France.
Cheap and nasty pubs. A lot of proper old school pubs, which had lots of individual character, have fallen by the wayside because of spoons undercutting them, which is sad.
I wouldn't say that. It's unfortunate, but it happens. The UK in general is filled with chains, so you could say that about most businesses. Grocery store, clothing stores, restaurants. As much as many people in the UK appear to dislike America (and Americans), that is something that the UK certainly has in common. The big businesses have a monopoly, and own pretty much everything. 😕
I'm so glad you went to the old operating theatre. I think it's great and not many tourists go there
We really enjoyed it! Our type of attraction, for sure.
Wait what who the hell is saying hash browns aren't part of a fry up??🤨🤨 A quintessential part of it
Quite a few people! Haha. Regardless of whether or not they "belong," they're super tasty!
Brexit Britain. Shame on you for going to Weatherspoons. Do some research about the ethics of places you visit.
Take your selective outrage somewhere else. I can guarantee you use products, support businesses, and use services every day of your life that are owned by corrupt billionaires, bigots, and lord knows what else. Or do you research every single place you visit, item you buy or business you support? Didn't think so. 😃
Mr Gregg (son of the founders) in real life is a convicted paedophile but he no longer has anything to do with the company. There’s also something they use, I’m guessing a treatment that goes into the flour, that causes a small proportion of people, myself included, to have stomach cramps and diarrhoea after eating any of their products be it a pasty, sausage roll, cake or pastry
You're not the first to mention that Gregg's makes them ill, actually. Has never happened to us, luckily. You're certainly the first to mention that information about the founder, though. Gross. 😬
Thanks for the video, it was really great! :) And to answer one of your questions about the rooster testicle stew, where you was courious about its status like outdated or not, i have the answer :) Same as the chicken heart stew, or chicken heart rizotto, its a rural food (they just cannot print there its for rural people). Its not a common food(not even at rural areas), but if you want to produce tons of chicken breast to fulfill city consumptions you are producing a lot of other parts that are not really mainstream at the markets. I can calm everyone down and tell you that, you eat this as well in form of chicken nuggets or similar products, but that dish was an example of the usuage of non-mainstream butchery products at the old times(you can immagine if someone cooked this, they are not slaughtered 50 roosters just to have the 100 balls, but it was a side-product even at old times). Nowadays its an exotic food, because in this example its directly used in a dish, and those balls were saved for this meal, but anyone who read this comment ate much more balls than they can immagine in form of grinded meat products. And as a summary that dish is a much more higher quality food(and much more honest) compared to some common foods even if they mark it as outdated.
Hahaha. I'm sure that information will help everyone sleep better at night! You're right, though. The same kind of people who eat chicken nuggets, hotdogs, and other mystery meats have likely eaten much, much worse at this point. At least we know they're balls. 😂 If you're slaughtering an animal, it's good practice to use everything you possibly can. It's like this is most rural areas around the world and third world countries. We've tried some pretty interesting dishes this way! Thanks for watching and commenting!
Bronchi is made to clear ur pipes and i think theres a guy cleaning a chimney, so it makes sence
It certainly does the job! They grew on me afterward, after I tried them a few more times. Especially when I was sick.
It’s basically the Chili’s or Applebee’s of British pubs
Kind of - but all of the Wetherspoons look pretty different, which is cool! We've had people telling us all sorts of unique Spoons locations that we should visit.
