We did! It was a bit too dark and loud to film, so that part just didn't make it into the video. Haha.

When you return to Nottingham visit Wollaton Park, a deer park and small stately home on the outskirts of the city. Herds of deer roaming free in front of you.

I went to University in Nottingham, so this was a great memory lane outing for me! Clotted cream needs to be piled on, not spread on!

Scotch eggs are always served cold. If you’re from Devon as I am then the cream goes on first, but if you’re from Cornwall the jam goes on first. I personally prefer it the Cornish way as you can then pile on more cream 😋

We actually had a warm Scotch Egg in London afterwards at one of the markets and we liked it a bit better warm with a gooey egg yolk 😇😊. It definitely seems like they are usually served cold, though. Yummy either way! Same when it comes to scones with clotted cream. I (Anja) am obsessed! 😂

No they’re not. If done properly they have a warm soft yoke inside.

The cheese shop you were in at the beginning was also one of the oldest pubs in Nottingham - The Flying Horse, an old coaching inn.

Oh wow, we had no idea, that's super interesting. There are so many old and spooky places in Nottingham. We really liked the vibe of the city because of that.

@@wherearewe-yt the Old Market Square is actually the new market square. It was positioned between the old Saxon market square (about 200 yards to the East of the Flying Horse at Weekday Cross) and the later Norman town situated around the Castle. The layout of the Saxon settlement from which Nottingham gets it name, still exists in the street layout of the Lace Market area. According to Bishop Asser in the 9th Century, Nottingham was previously known by its British name Tigguo Cobauc - Place (or city) of Caves.

So ..Scotch egg..my favourite way to eat is ,cut the Scotch egg in half remove the egg then put a teaspoon of Branston pickle ( small chunk is best )then put the egg back and eat.......deeelish😊

The UK makes over 700 varieties of cheese. Cheddar cheese was invented in Cheddar Gorge, Somerset, near where I live. A superb cheese is the Cornish Davidstow from Cornwall, 24 or 36 month matured. Pile on the clotted cream and jam at least as twice as thick as you did. That was a serving for a baby.

The cheeses we had were great. We'd love to make it to Cheddar some day and try it from the source! We now feel the need to from Stinking Boshop as well. Hahaha. Glad you agree! Anja always eats scones that way. It's fine..just means more for me.

@@wherearewe-yt You could eat a different cheese every day for 2 years. Cheddar Gorge is an amazing place well worth visiting. Bishops in real life stink with Catholics so it makes sense to have some Stinking Bishop! Lol. I meant when you had your scone, you need more clotted cream and jam on it! 😋😁

When you see 'ye olde', you should say 'the old'; the first letter is actually a thorn, þ, but when printing arrived they didn''t make thorn's in type. When I visited Iceland I saw that icelandic is still written using thorn and eth, ð, both of which have been replaced with 'th' in modern English.

Have you been to Chester? We have complete city walls that are mostly Roman, we have 'The Saddle' which is a rock/metal Inn with each bed room dedicated to a music star, lots of ghosts including an Inn with regular ghost investigations from TV shows and YT channels, and its quite pretty with lots of places to eat.

No, we haven't been to Chester, yet, but it looks really pretty and sounds super cool. The rock/metal inn sounds interesting. We'll definitely put it on our list of places to visit in the UK 😊. Apparently, there's a Cheshire pork pie and a Chester Pudding. Would love to try those 😋.

I can’t watch these videos because it makes me want to eat everything lol that Yorkshire pudding looked soooo good. Hopefully Rosie didn’t follow you back 😮

7:46 Interesting fact the upstairs was for bikers and the downstairs was for normal folk. Me being the the only heavy metal guy in our group all walked to the bottom section with me in my bon jovi tassled leather jacket and my mates all wearing button up shirts and shoes. The bartender shouted "Upstairs!". So we go upstairs and it was like a scene from Blue Oyster Bar where the record scratches and this sea of leather clad bikers just stared at us as we stood at the top of the stairs. We left pretty quick and my mates gave me a bollocking because they couldnt take me anywhere. Greb 4 life.

They really do. Some of the best. We've been making it a point to try them wherever we go. We need to make our way over to Cheddar! And now we're really intrigued and want to try Stinking Bishop. Ever tried it??

i’m slightly biased as i lived nottingham all my life, but i’ve stayed in nearly every major city and none match nottingham to me. it’s all my own opinion

I (Anja) went to university in Edinburgh, and while there weren't many similarities visually, I felt like there was a vibe in Nottingham that really reminded me of Edinburgh and gave me feelings of nostalgia that other cities in the UK don't necessarily give me. I think it was all the old pubs, metal bars, ghost tours and haunted places. I also used to drink at the "sister pub" of the Pit & Pendulum in Edinburgh (it was called Jekyll & Hyde there) while I was a student. It was essentially the same pub by the same owners but unfortunately they closed it a few years ago. I was really surprised about Nottingham tbh :)

@@wherearewe-yt Nottingham has a vibe I haven't found in other UK cities but I haven't been to Edinburgh so if you think it's similar I'll have to check it out. :) Nottingham seems to excel at shopping and nightlife, it's also a little less expensive than some of the tier 1 tourist cities

Great in certain places, bit rubbish in others. It's a city. If you were to go to Detroit, or Milwaukee you'd see the same.

Nottingham was really not even on our radar, but it was much better than we expected! It's not the best city we've been to England, but we still enjoyed it. There are a lot more places all over the country that we'd love to see. Any places in particular that you'd suggest?

I forgot to ask - what are your interests? Architecture, food, history, art? As it's November now, there are less places to see on the coast without getting chilled somewhat. Plenty of other places to go if you like cars, planes, fashion, food (again). It's a small country when you look at it on a map, but it does pack in a lot of content. 🙂

I would say our major love is food- but we're interested in it all! We're not history buffs by any means, but we always enjoy learning a bit about the areas we visit. Architecture is one of the first things we notice in a new city, and always love finding unique, old buildings. That's why the UK is great. It's full of em'! Anja actually lived in Edinburgh for five year. We love it there! We spent about half a day and Bristol, and would love to go back and explore it properly. Bath and Chester are also on the list. Someone else actually just mentioned Chester in the comments as well. It looks beautiful!

The salutation in the mid seventies had a very gay barman who worked upstairs, he would act very camp just for the laugh. He would take your money but when he handed you the change he would hold your hand and proposition you , most people took it as the joke it was meant to be but occasionally somebody took offence and knocked him out! If you get the chance try a Melton Mowbray (just up the road) pork pie from a proper butchers if you're lucky they can leave the top off and put a layer of stilton cheese on instead which melts through the pie as it's cooked, delicious.

Hahaha. That's a great story! The chef at The Salutation was great. He was telling us all sorts of stories about the bar, and himself, when we were there. We quite enjoyed ourselves! Had a better time there, than at The Jerusalem, to be honest.

It's not the Jerusalem everyone knows it as simply as The Trip. Did they show you the ancient model galleon which legend says if you touch it you will die within days, it hangs from the ceiling and is covered in dust and cobwebs as no one dare clean it!

Just stumbled across you two doing the Cotswolds way. Hows ya "plates of meat", flower ? I was exactly the same 50 years a go . I could'nt walk for a day after. It was something i had'nt done before, so it made sense. After loads of briny foot soaks and plasters, my feet eventually got pretty immune to blisters. Trouble is, i was too knackered by then ! And yes, no way should anyone pay 12 nicker to get in to any old ruin. The likes of the "National trust " are the worst offenders. They're not national, or are to be trusted. xx

Our trip to Exeter was actually a year ago 😊. Our feet are always sore when travelling because we tend to walk at least 20k steps per day when we travel 😀. We always love exploring the UK though. Can't wait to see more cities in England. Brandon is from Canada and his ancestors are from the UK so we want to explore his roots in the future. Thanks for watching our video! 😊
