HALIFAX: Back home in CANADA for the FIRST TIME in 7 years! 🇨🇦 - Nova Scotia's CAPITAL

In this week's travel vlog we are back home in Canada for the first time in 7 years. We visit Brandon's hometown Halifax, the capital of Nova Scotia.
Brandon was born and bred in Halifax but actually moved away 15 years ago. So we are super excited to be back for our first visit in 7 years to find out what this city has to offer these days!
We start our journey in Dartmouth where we take the ferry across to Halifax. We are amazed by all the cool businesses and restaurants along the Halifax Waterfront. We stop for some Canadian Fish and Chips at Katch and also try one of their Donair Egg Rolls. We visit Citadel Hill and take in the beautiful views of the city from the top. From here we also get to see ground zero of the Halifax Explosion, a devastating event that marks the city's history.
We then enter the Citadel where we learn more about the indigenous people of Halifax as well as its military history. Before going back to the waterfront we take a stroll along Spring Garden Road and through the beautiful Public Gardens. Back at the Boardwalk we enjoy a delicious cone of Cows Ice Cream from Prince Edward Island. We end our journey at The BG for some local craft beers.

Neat little history fact. The halifax citadel clock is stopped at the actual time the Halifax explosion hit. It stopped and they never repaired it. Kinda a reminder of what happened.

Welcome back! The PG was my second home as a child, glad you featured that, AND the awesome fish & chips. The waterfront , wow , I have avoided it for a few years because of the construction, but will have to get down to stroll soon. You're right, it's unrecognizable. Keep adventuring! x

Randomly stumbled upon your video. I’m from Dartmouth too but moved away years ago. My family is still all there so I visit often. Loved the east coast sounding music you were playing in the background of the video 😁

That place looks dope! The "one piece" fish and chips was massive! We've never explored Eastern Canada, but you're peaking our interests! Maybe when we make it back stateside, we can check that out!

You should! The real reason to visit Eastern Canada is for all the greenery, nature and cute little seaside towns. Our next video is a food video, but we have the nature and seaside town bit coming up after. 😜 We really want to explore more of the US! Especially the Southern states for some BBQ. The US may be just across the border, but every time we go, it just feels like a totally different world. 😂 Hope you guys show off your own home towns next time you're back. Would love to see!

I haven't lived in Halifax for over a decade, but every time we go back to visit, the friendliness of the people is one thing that stands out the most! Especially after living and spending so much time in Germany and Hungary, where "small talk" doesn't really exist. It's like night and day. 😂 And I always miss the ocean..and fresh seafood, of course.

Me and Anja are common-law and as she is a German citizen I have the same rights as her when it comes to staying and working in the EU. I don't need a visa since I have a "Residence card for a family member of a EU citizen". If you only wanna come for tourism, as a Canadian you can easily come to Europe without a visa, though. You can stay in the Schengen Zone for 90 days.

Right? What the actual eff. We were shocked by some of (actually, most of) the prices. Here, in Hungary, we spend $3 on a beer- or less than $7US for a DOUBLE whisky and coke. Same for a lot of prices at the grocery store. 😳
