My wife and I went to Nova Scotia for our honeymoon, spent 2 days in Halifax. What a beautiful city. That was in '84. We're thinking about going back next year, for our 40 anniversary.

I've watched a lot of Halifax/Nova Scotia videos over the years, and I have to say, you're the FIRST to capture the essence of Halifax. The water front, Public Gardens and especially the dahlia garden you featured, the Citadel and wow, you actually "got" donairs, and the savory-sweet connection - by the way, Tony's was the correct place to go! Thinly sliced, then fried off. I worked at King of Donair for a while, and other shops, and Tony's does it up right! Finally, the most excellent fish'n'chips was typical. I think that's what I like most about your video. It was the way we live, not lobster rolls and resorts, but the waterfront and history I also loved your backdrops of the older homes in Hali, that's us! Okay, I'm a new sub, because if you portray my home this great, you must do as good a job on other places. Oh, and at the very beginning, when you said Halifax is like a smaller Boston ... you immediately won my vote! Our sister city, and yes, that is so true. Love & light, from Halifax. :)

Yes but every KZreadr misses the night time vibe on the waterfront which is completely different. But a fun video and I would like to see them come back to have more fun and check out the boardwalk at night during the summer.

I'm a born and bred Canadian, and I'm going to Halifax at the end of July for 4 days, for a solo getaway. I can't wait. My days are packed with things to do. I went to St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, at the end of August, 2023, and that was a very neat, and very old shipping and fishing community.

Another fun video!! It was so interesting that you mentioned that Halifax reminds you of a small Boston. After the Halifax explosion, the city of Boston was the first to send first aid (Red Cross) and disaster relief to Halifax. As a thank you, every year Nova Scotia sends a huge Christmas Tree to Boston where it is displayed/lit on Boston Common. Last year the tree was donated by a family who lives in the community of Christmas Island on Cape Breton Island.

Glad you liked Halifax! I’ve been there several times in recent years when my son was attending Dal University. The maritime museum has a permanent Titanic display - recovered artifacts from the sinking including deck chairs etc. Very cool. Recovered bodies from the Titanic were transported to Halifax. I visited the cemetery where some of the Titanic dead were buried in a separate section of the cemetery. So much history in Halifax. Keep up the great work guys!

I was born there, but my Naval Officer dad passed away when I was 7 months old (1961). We (mom, my 2 big brothers and I) moved to Burlington Ontario and lived with mom's parents till 67, then on to Ottawa where I met and married my military husband. In 2016 hubby and I vacationed in Lunenburg and visited Halifax on the way back home, but no stopping as it was pouring rain. This summer we're going on a Boston to Montreal cruise, Halifax and Sydney being ports we plan to explore ourselves. We knew in Prescott Ontario that it was noon in the summer because Fort Wellington did the same with the cannons. That's where my dad's parents lived.

The angelic music during the desert made me LOL! We're finally leaving Redding, heading to our next assignment in Palo Alto. I really loved cruising around on the Sac River Trail. That's gotta be one of the top bike trails in the country. I loved all the steep hills and curves! It was like riding a roller coaster on a bike. And all the side trails that branch off were just as awesome, with great views of Mt. Lassen and Mt. Shasta. I really enjoyed it here. If we ever come back, we are going to hike to the Trinity Alps. That place is &^%$ing amazing!

@@AdventuresofAplusK Yeah, totally bitter sweet. When you stay in one place for a while you get attached, or at least I do! Like this was actually our home for a while and I was on that trail twice a week or more for 4.5 months. I still have very fond memories (and photos and drone videos) of Colorado last year. But that sense of adventure and experiencing new places keeps driving us forward as I'm sure you guys know and relate to quite well!

I knew you'd say that Halifax reminds you of Boston! Lol. I'm Canadian, and had visited Halifax before I visited Boston. I said the same thing in reverse: that Boston made me think of a bigger Halifax. How come you didn't bring Kona with you when you walked through the parks?

Kona stayed in the van because sometimes it is difficult to have her with us on filming days, especially in cities. She requires 100% attention from one of us so it's just hard having her when were working sometimes. Thank you and thanks for watching!

Hi, I am from Halifax, and can answer. The "doner kebab" is definitely a Turkish dish, meat on a skewer. There are many versions, think "shawarma" for example, and the donair is the creation of a Greek man, George Kamoulakis. He made a kebab from lamb and beef, and made an original sauce that was sweet instead of tart like tsasiki (sp?) for example. The donair has been in Haifax since the early 1970s. It is made of thinly sliced donair meat, lightly browned, chopped raw onions and tomato, served on a pita that has been dipped in water and toasted on the grill, with a creamy sweet sauce. So delish!

Thank you for the video. Also, it's "döner" and it's TURKISH. It comes from the Turkish word "dönmek" which means "to rotate" because of how the meat is prepared.

That seems to be a common misconception. It's donair, not döner. It is inspired by the döner/gyro, but it does not taste the same Like we mentioned in the video, it uses beef instead of lamb and the sauce is different. Thanks and thanks for watching! 😊

The video was good overall, but your love for the donair was unfortunate. They are a disgusting mess, especially the excess of raw onions and the awful sauce. Usually they are only consumed by drunken uni students staggering home after a night of boozing. You often see the remains of ones that their bodies rejected on the sidewalks the next morning. Good video otherwise.
