Class of 1980 Lake Park HS. Last time I was there was summer of 76 with 2 friends Dave and Kyle from Westfield Middle school (Class of 1976). Later on after it closed we would “sneak” in and get high and walk around.

4:06 I may be wrong but is that Kookla, Fran and Olie? 5:29 Romper Room! I'd hide behind the couch when she would look through her looking glass (?) "I see Billy and Mary . . etc" Then I'd get upset when she never mentioned my name. . . kid logic. Anyone else have Romper Stompers?

Interesting to see all the different bus manufacturers the CTA used over the decades such as GMC, White, Marmon-Herrington (trolley buses), Mack, AM-General, Twin-Coach, Flxible, MAN, Pullman (trolley buses) and ACF-Brill (trolley and motor buses). Sure brings back a lot of memories and thanks for sharing!

Using Experiment in Terror by Henry Mancini as the musical introduction theme to Creature Features was brilliant & never to be forgotten. I wonder if permission was needed in those days. It was composed by Henry Mancini for the 1962 thriller movie called Experiment in Terror starring Glen Ford & Lee Remick. Mancini composed all the music for that movie with Experiment in Terror being the main theme for the movie. Mancini was a genius as all his music was great-people aren’t making music like that anymore & haven’t been for many years now. I’ve always hated all the new horror films like Freddie, Jason & all the rest which aren’t true horror films but nasty violence. Nothing can replace the original Universal Monsters & any of the old horror stories. Vincent Price was about the last one to see some decent modern horror. TV certainly isn’t like what it used to be, even channel 9, but they still do try harder than the rest & give us some of Chicago’s Very Own nostalgia from time to time. I miss the old days. Even ABC/channel 7 would play old movies on the weekends & now nothing. I think there used to be an old movie played every night after the Night Beat late news report on channel 9 w/Marty McNeeley. They want people to pay for cable & streaming. And I hate digital TV-the interruptions are rampant & permanently there even when you try to record something. Nothing like the old days-now we know what our Parents & Grandparents meant by that

When I was a little kid, the best Saturday nights were the ones I spent at my older cousin's house, and we would watch Creature Features. Great memories. Thanks for the video.

Back in the day, a good friend of mine introduced me to the owner, Joe Sotiros. He found out that I specialized in shooting concert photography and had me take photos of the many bands he was acquainted with. Many of my photos were ringed around the top walls of the store. One of our favorites was Wishbone Ash, we loved that band and I was able to meet them and shoot their concert at the Hammond Civic Center. Those were fantastic days when we would hang in that store for hours. There was nothing like flipping through the albums looking for that one you just had to have. He was a nice guy, damn shame what happened to him. R.I.P. Joe!

Pete is it? I was a paper boy for the chicago tribune in the early seventies. Early saturday morning routes in rain or snow. But before I started, I'd go immediately to the "Tempo Arts and Movies" section and there would be full fold out page of these ads in your video. Channel 9 was fully committed to creature features and I couldn't wait to cut out the page and post it on the wall. After the saturday morning cartoon line up, there were no illusions about what was waiting for us that night . We armed ourselves with boston baked beans, charlston chew, and cracker Jacks. And mom didn't mind the sugar overload one night out the week as long as we got up for sunday school. I drew these characters, had the Halloween costumes, and owned the plastic models by Aurora that you could paint. This is fine work and a tribute to a great time to be a kid.

That is Dick Beals, who voiced Ralph Phillips in a couple of 1950's Looney Tunes shorts, "Boyhood Daze" and "From A to Zzzz", as the little kid going "Come to order! Come to order!" @ 1:45 .

Oh! We went many times to Adventureland. My parents taking me as a small child; later as a teenager, hanging with my friends. One memory stands out: I spied Cindrellas coach parked off in a corner -- I wandered over; only to see the lady dressed as Cinderella having a smoke and a cold beer. ....understandable, seeing it was an incredibly hot summer day -- lol.

I was remember watching a number of these shows. I remember the Storyteller was one of my favorites. That's what I loved about Captain Kangaroo--he would always read a story. And it seemed like WGN provided a lot of what would be considered "country" programming. Orion Samuelson would read the farm report in the very early A.M. (around 5 o'clock) because a lot of the audience WGN reached was still very rural. I never missed Ray Rayner, Garfield Goose, Family Classics. My mom would watch Exercise with Gloria and do calisthenics in the living room.

I was trying to recall The Mulqueens. Thank you for including. The frame titled Susie's Show, should have been Susan's Show. I know, small difference. I remember most clearly the talking table, Mr Pegasus. Why he was named Pegasus, the same as a mythical flying horse, I never understood. And of course, Susan would return to the world of reality at the end of the show with "Take me home, flying friend, take me home", and be whisked away in her magical chair. One other thank you for including Terry Bennett. Children knew him not only as the host of Jobblewocky Place, but also as Marvin, the host of Shock Theater, where we could watch old horror movie classics, to the dismay our parents.

Hearken us back to when the world was a much better (and calmer) place and transport us back to when we were young. Ahh...the 70s! Adventureland always seemed to be soooo far away from where my family lived on the southeast side of Chicago. I was there once as a youngster and rode all the BIG rides - Super Italian Bobs, the Himalaya and the list goes on. I remember how much fun the Hofbrahaus was and the Parashoots felt like the car was going to disengage and fly away! Thank you for this fine nostalgic look back at an era gone forever. God Bless The United States of America!

I got all the Creature Features posters from our local Jewel (dunno how my mom got them from the manager) and taped them up over my bed. Then, come bedtime, the monsters freaked me out so bad I had to take them down LOL. I loved that show so much as a kid! And then we got Svengoolie. Then Son of Svengoolie...

Wow! Journey to the Beginning of Time! I still hear the eary sounding male voice echoe stirring up a very forgotten memory! And Andy Starr. The gloveables… Mr. Wizzard. Scott McCloud Space Angels verticle take off and landing, just like Elon Musk’s reusable rockets. Diver Dan with the Mermaid Miss “Minerva?” Trigger & Barry? Baracuda. My recall is rather rusted since the first black and white TV shows that aired, I must have been five or six? 64 now. Also remember Terry Toon Present’s Tom Terriffic & dog pal Boerigard? Cool McCool. Crazy Cat. . .
