Hello! I just found your channel and I have been enjoying your videos. I would think that a lot of people who are interested in Spain, are also interested in the language. Also, James does 85% of the talking, and Yoli sits there looking happy and pretty. Why don’t you divide up the topics to be more 50-50, and let her speak in Spanish with subtitles? I think a lot of us Spanish learners would appreciate that. ❤ Thanks!
I don't mean this in a mean way, but I'm very picky with my food. It kinda sucks to be honest, but that's the way I am unfortunately. All the food you all keep going to looks gross to me. LOL So I don't think I'd try most of the places that you all have tried. A lot of it is fishy. I like meat, steaks, tacos, burgers, stuff like that.
I mean tripe is horrific; it’s a dead animal. It’s not cute and colloquial and edgy, it’s fkd up and evil. There’s so much good food without senseless killing
Working 1665 hours in a year? Man! Thats like 9 more weeks of vacation than I get here in usa.
You can better live in Cádiz or Zaragoza.
Valencia in the 70’s and 80’s was great. Lived in Malvarrosa before the beach scene arrived.
Regarding siesta, I think the main misconception comes from not understanding how Spanish meals work. In a lot of countries, lunch is eaten much earlier, and it's more of a simple meal (dinner being the main meal for many people). But in Spain, lunch is eaten much later, tipically between 2 and 4 p.m., and it's the main meal, with at least one hot dish, so it takes longer to eat. Even if bringing your meal from home to work is a common custom, people who can afford it like to go to a bar and eat a "menú del dia" (though, with current prices, it's becoming a luxury!) Remember, from 2 to 4 p.m. The same time many businesses are closed! Is it difficult to connect the dots? As for the religious part, since I travelled to Ireland and Poland, I'm more and more convinced that we Spaniards are a bunch of Pagans who like partying, and Catholicism just gives us a lot of opportunities to party. Take this in good humour and with a grain of salt, obviously 😂
Me he sorprendido mucho con lo de que nos quedamos mirando!! 🤣🤣🤣 no me había dado cuenta nunca de que hacemos eso, que curioso😂😂
Are Europeans moving back to Europe?😁
Thank you very much for this video. It's really helpful❤
First time on your channel, and I love the content, you have a lovely family, and your style is refreshing insightful as well and super engaging. Thannk you. I just subscribed.
People still preferring torrefacto like this is the fking postguerra will be the end of me. I'm from El Salvador, we export good beans, and took one sip of a cup of coffee 15 years ago when coming to Barcelona and vowed to never ask for bar coffee ever again.
Almost 8 years in the UK and I cant vote either for the National goverment, something pretty normal world wide if you dont have the nationality
Fartons! So simple, but a favorite thing of mine in Spain.
Never add tips to the bill if you are paying with credit card or debit card in Spain. The waiters wont see a peny of it, it would go directly to the restaurant owner. If you dont have cash, just smile and say thank you while you go.
My wife told me once Spain is not for poor people. Its not a country to make money . but.. if your economy is solid and independent hen Spain is the best. iTs a paradise. She's danish and now living in valencia.
I moved from my country because of nepotism being one of the reasons, only to find out that the nepotism in Spain is bigger as it’s bigger than my country 😅
go home guiris!
6:50 lol, she got a wise father, but shit hits the fan in western world in general, its not just US, But the financial arbitrage that is available is obvious
Absolutely nailed it!
As a Spaniard, I think F&B jobs are poorly paid, so the only thing you get is people with no training or experience, who don't know anything about hospitality. In the US you can make a lot of money working as a waiter, bit in Spain you hardly make your ends meet. So I don't thing is a cultural thing, I think it's a terrible situation in the F&B sector. Facing this truth, the only thing left to the customer is trying to beg some attention from someone who is literally exploited and burned out.
Rhe girl that said that she moved to spain cause in us the politics where a show, she really did not took any info abput politics in spain 😂
I have to wonder if they think you're from Zeeland, in the Netherlands.
Yoli is eating tuna while James eats chyuna 😂
Very nice video with great info. I wonder if it is hard to park downtown if you have a car? Or is it best to stay at a hotel a bit outside the city and park there, and then take the Metro in each day? Thank you.
"this is James, he is English" ahahaha
do they still have Recuit ? ( a sort of grainy semolina pudding)
Aqui a la gente como tu la llamamos llorones :) eres un llorón.
Yes, move to Valencia and become one of the foreigners that people hate with a passion....
do they also hate tourists with a passion? I am planning to go for a family holiday in a week.. I'm Southern European... it'd be sad to feel unwanted. My country has millions of tourists every year too.
Go home
Damn..I'm so sorry this happened to you. :( small businesses and tourist sites should really be posting more signs about pickpocketers and to be more vigilant
Damn, this video is going to save me on my solo trip to Málaga! I seldom travel alone and my Spanish is ropey at best! Thanks for the solid advice!
Being British I apologise for almost everything! Thanks for the tip!
Will join your webinars. The gloom in England gets to me really bad.
Mallorca is the best place on earth because it is the legit Promised Land but people werent supposed to know this until the end of times(now)that's why people had to have the spiritual awakening because they werent taught the truth/real history in school. We are in the age of aquarius which is when the truth would be revealed.Having an open mind is vital and a blessing.Freedom is coming.
Mahou is my favourite. I'm suddenly finding it in England pretty easily now, thank god!
lets flock this place up, raise rents and make it impossible to live!
Could that lady slow down!!! She speaks really fast
Great video! Do you have a local contact in Malaga that does location/neighborhood scouting trips (like the woman in Valencia from your other video)?
We do use indicators in the rest of Spain, but not in Madrid
Whenever all the expatriates moved to an area they will ruin it in a short time.. prices are up and crowds are there.. it's now become kind of a tourist trap.. if you have lots of money and want to be surrounded by lots of tourists and expatriates, it's great... There are way better choices.
si rechazas tu nacionalidad solo es efectiva en españa, no en nueva zelanda, para nueva zelanda no aplica, entonces tendras doble nacionalidad :)
V I've lived in Spain since 1979. The advice given here and other videos is spot on. Please remember when you come to visit or live in Spain that you are always a guest. Spanish culture is ancient and, in many ways, much more advanced than the Anglo-Saxon one . US citizens also have to remember that Spaniards are Europeans and don't come from Central America.
Hey James. Interesting video. It seems fairly obvious to me why Americans would leave the States behind and go to Spain, but what about Aussies/Kiwis? Politics is a basket case pretty much everywhere, but that - and love! - aside, what would make an Aussie/Kiwi move there?

The rise of Vox makes perfect sense . The left government is extremely corrupt, cost of living and taxes are high , salaries are low, violent crime is increasing and much of it is perpetrated by non European immigrants . The left tries to control speech and thoughts , and rather than being progressive , they are more neo Bolshevik. My grandfather fought Franco and spent almost 5 years in a prison camp , but were he alive today , he would be dismayed by the government and current state of affairs.
I like watching your adventures in Spain but I really appreciate you guys adding the day to day vocabulary while you support the small, local businesses
Awesome video, I’m going to visit a friend there in the fall, great to know more about the city.
Never realized how unhealthy Spain's food is. Fries, ham, white bread, beers, etc. No wonder the obesity rates are skyrocketing.
Paella "Señorito"...Porfaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa...eso es más hortera que Julio Iglesias en polyester
