Obsessed with tone! Here we will run through amplifier and speaker demos and also cover some general maintenance to help your gear survive a tour! I also build small numbers of tube amplifiers designed for rock and metal.
I got rid of that 60hz hum with a wireless transmiter, it seems like sorcery, but no hum from not grounding your guitar with your hands

Looking forward to your talk about more or fewer filter caps in JCM 800's. I have fewer: 1986, horizontal inputs. I always wondered if it would be worth adding the missing ones. If you were to choose a year of JCM 800 that had the best design/specs, what would it be, and would it make sense to alter mine to meet that design? I definitely could use better grounding. This amp is noisy. I sent you an email asking where you are located - your website doesn't say. Wild guess: Chicago?

Hey, I know this video is a few years old, but a question: Instead of entirely bypassing the cold clipper, could you have achieved a similar result but switching in a smaller cathode resistor to make that stage more transparent?

Maybe *YOU* can use a #8 Woodscrew. 🤷♂ Some of us have a little tiny bit of self-respect, SOME regard for our hardware, and absolutely no need to simulate excretion of toxic waste all over our equipment by using garbage, non-Posidrive hardware and tools. Carry on.

The most comprehensive video I've seen! I am building an extension just like the one you are building. In a band and a Sound Engineer for 66 years (and counting) what you are doing and your method makes sense. I believe in soldering as much as possible. It helps when you actually know how to solder, (my brother told me soldering is similar to welding, heat up the thicker material first). As a guitar player, I am all about Tubes and Point to Point wired amps! It saves money when you get vintage (pre-circuit board) amps and a good friend who repairs and custom built my Point to Point wired "Head". Actually he uses me for my "ears.'" It is a modified Fender Champ circuit. I usually play with a sound system, so loud enough to be my monitor. I subscribed and will be watching your videos!

Absolutely. They are magnificent guitars. I recently got a lacquer finish model which is essentially the same guitar as this with different inlay material, aged hardware and nitro instead of poly. The consistency between all of my Tokai's made in the last 15 years is uncanny. I have a lot of Gibsons too but they're all very different from each other. I prefer the out of the box sound of the Tokai though.
