    I love your work. I live in Brasil, and I can’t find felting wool in good prices, so I’d like to know if it can be replaced for some other product.

  • @Figandme
    @Figandme8 күн бұрын

    Felting wool (the coloured one) is not cheap. But what I use is quilt batting, which also is not remotely cheap. If you want to make natural dolls you simply must use wool if you want to felt them. If on the contrary you just want to felt, I believe you can use the technique using polyfill which should be widely available in your country.

    Maybe I'm dumb but how do you end up putting the fabric on at the end and making it cling to the sculpted face so snugly?

  • @Figandme
    @Figandme9 күн бұрын

    Its a rather lengthy process to drape the fabric and make it conform to all the nooks and crannies (with lots of pins) and then cleverly placed sculpting stitches to sink the fabric into certain areas. It's not magic, just patience, needle, thread and pins.

    It takes time to hone down your skills and learn how to achieve symmetry. Don't get discouraged as practice does help a lot. I have two online classed where I show you how to felt firmly, with high quality in mind, and how to achieve the face proportions that correspond to young children. If you are interested in checking them out, please visit this link: dollmakingacademy.thinkific.com/

    Muchas gracias por sus explicaciones,para mi está técnica es nueva, me gustan mucho muñecas Waldorf, peto acá en Colombia 🇨🇴 Sur América, no consigo la tela ., encontré,tela de franela. Le quedó perfecta ☺️

  • @Figandme

    Que bueno que te gusto la tecnica, es divertido y encantador utilizarla para hacer muñecas. Puedes usar gaza para contener la lana, y si...la tela para cubrirlas es dificil encontrarla, incluso en Canada. Yo tengo que comprar todo por internet, y a la señora que le compro la mayoria de mis materiales, ella importa casi todo de Europa. Quizas si haces un pedido de tamaño decente te pueda salir bien. Hay una mujer en Mexico, que vende una tela muy similar, aunque tiene cierto contenido de polyester. La que yo utilizo es 100% algodon. Puedes encontrar a esta mujer en Instagram, esta es su cuenta: instagram.com/marialuciana1972/

  • @Figandme
    @FigandmeАй бұрын

    No sorry, most dolls were made a very long time ago so I don't remember. But if I understand your question correctly...I recommend about 120" to 140" of weft for a doll head of about 13" to 15" circumference at the hair line.
