    In my case the unused space on the 32" can still be used for a music player, or another content, if not distract you too much. When I used my iMac 27", I had same problems about moving the cursor in a giant screen, compared to my 14" MacBook. The advice about how deep is your desk is a killer decision, thank you!

    The big question is 27 inch 4k or QHD? 🤔 Can you see the pixels on a QHD when you sit only 24 inch away?

    Great video. If using Helicon to stack, take a look at Helicon Remote. Can set the closest point and farthest point then the software does the focus racking for you and is awesomely accurate. Not much of an add on cost especially for taking the manual step out of the process.

    I had always wondered how these product shots were done fully in-focus, I knew I couldn't just take 1 photo with a tiny aperture but I never knew how it worked. Software like this could have some really interesting uses like maybe even replicating a tilt shift lense, super cool technique and a put together video.

  • @CalebKerr
    @CalebKerr4 ай бұрын

    I also use a tilt shift lens, sometimes using it to also focus stack, as they offer different things. TS lenses are rad.

    Did you tried focus bracketing on R5?

  • @CalebKerr
    @CalebKerr4 ай бұрын

    What do you mean by that exactly? By the definition in understand it, this video is focus bracketing.

  • @videoyoplait
    @videoyoplait4 ай бұрын

    @@CalebKerr I think he means the auto-bracketing/stacking feature in the R5. But this only works with continuous light because for some dumb reason Canon designed the software to not work with flash. I used a Fuji X-T3 and could use flash because you can add a delay in the settings to give your flash time to reset. For Canon, I believe only the R3 can do this.

  • @CalebKerr

    Photoshop and Lightroom have it, I hear Affinity has it (which I believe is free). Also if you want to try Helicon Focus, they do a 30 day trial (no credit card or anything needed) of the full version of the software.

    32 inches screen viewed away from exactly 24 inches away is 60 degree field of view. which i think is optimal for immersive viewing experience.

  • @CalebKerr
    @CalebKerr4 ай бұрын

    I believe that, although a key piece I’d add is that for photo editing, an immersive experience is not what you want; you want to be able to take in a whole image using (mostly) your center vision not peripheral. Gaming and movies / consuming video content is different.

    Interestingly enough, I made this video 6 years ago just upgraded to a 32” 6K Apple Pro Display XDR and I LOVE it. But I think the higher pixel density is why, for the same reasons I talk about with relative viewing distance (I sit further back from it now on a deeper desk).

    @@CalebKerr Right now I'm reading this on a 10 year old 2k Dell monitor from about 2 feet away -- but I tend to lean in and out quite a lot, especially when I'm multitasking. With the larger screen I had to force myself to lean back and, when I got close I had to reduce the window size. I've got a 27 inch BenQ SW272U on order now, and I think that will be the sweet spot.

    32" is an overkill for a monitor. It's way too big for the kind of viewing distances you deal with on a desk. 27" is the highest one should go. 24" is kind of a sweet spot. Anything beyond 27" would require you to whip your head around all the time towards the corners, or you'd need to sit farther away from the screen. If you're going to do that, then you'll end up with a 27" sized screen relatively. So, you may as well use an actual 27" monitor and save yourself some money, neck pain and eye strain.

Now, I have a "reminder app*" on my PC, to insist I do other stuff away from the monitor regularly/physically. buona fortuno, young creator :-) * Stretchly (free) but there's plenty others. Doesn't hurt to ride 15K/day on a roadbike, either!! (trust me, at my 72, it makes ALL the difference! :-)

    I used to use an Epson ET-2550 kzread.infoUgkxciSwynMJ7PnUvvx11rewiu-yFBkZTl53 , an early model of the ink tank style. It worked well, but had one nuisance that drove me up the wall; if you didn't put it in high quality print mode you'd get a streak across the page. I'm happy to say I have yet to see this with this printer. The print quality has been fantastic so far, the set up was super easy. All in all I'm very happy with this printer.

    I found this helpful but I really wanted to comment on the production quality of the video itself. I thought this was so good and added significantly to the authenticity and confidence in the review/producer. There are lots of reviews of every equipment but the time Caleb put into creating this kind of video/content quality makes me believe he is professional in other areas of expertise. In other words the quality of the video production itself would be enough to convince me to hire him for photo work, which was not the point of this topic. I went on to watch his other equally professional and detailed youtube content.

    This may be the most helpful video on KZread. I may ultimately have to test both myself, but I'm leaning toward 27" to give room on the desk for speakers and the laptop. I have a 34" ultra wide at work, on a shallow desk, and that definitely causes lots of whiplash. 32" sure would be nice for watching a movie, so here I am, again, undecided! First-World problems!

  • @irsshill4502

    the 32 can double easily as an ultra wide, lower than that it isnt worth cropping your monitor.
