Pick and Pluck Foam Setup for SKB / Pelican Case
Фильм және анимация
Protect your expensive gear with a good case. I promise it's worth it. Here, I run through moving my gear from a Pelican 1510 with padded dividers to an SKB case with pick and pluck foam. I use Profoto B1 lights, but this video can apply to literally any equipment you want to fit in a hard case.

The glorious 9th symphony in d minor my favourite!
Thank you for the demonstration
Super helpful and badass music. Thanks dude.
Thank you for showing us how to pluck. Great methodical approach... and Beethoven's 9th is a nice touch. One question: How has it held up over time? An update would be great mentioning anything you'd change. Really hoping nothing's been damaged.
When you put some Foam back in the holes vor the Batterys you can Grab them better wenn pulling out.
Did you end up using any spray adhesive to keep the foam layers together, and to adhere the top layer to the top of the case?
Good man! Tidy job
Thank you man!!

Local Yokell thank you!
Hey Caleb, Great video! What size are the stickers you made for your pelican case?
Are those inside or outside dimensions?
Does the bottom foam pick and pluck all the way thru like the top foam OR does it leave room like an inch for cushion. If it is pick and pluck all the way thru, how do you protect the bottom?

Tommy Lee it’s 2 layers of ~5” thick pick and pluck, then a final ~1” thick layer of solid foam at the bottom. This is nice so you can create varied depth slots depending on the gear going in it.

@@CalebKerr Awesome, as long as it has 1 inch layer at the bottom for cushion then its a buy for me. Thanks.
@Caleb Kerr, what is the model # for that SKB case?

It's this bad boy. It looks like the image is of a smaller size case, but it's 22"x17"x8: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003ZV3AOO?ie=UTF8&tag=calebkerr05-20&camp=1789&linkCode=xm2&creativeASIN=B003ZV3AOO
Off-topic question....where did you find your desk?

Phillippia Fuqua It's a ULINE packing / shipping desk. Super solid, and cheap. Highly recommend.

Okay. Thanks. Its awesome! I never thought of using something like that for a desk when I was shopping around (ended up building my own). I am now trying to revamp my office and thinking about changing desks. I originally built two 6 foot long standing desks (I use bar height swivel chairs for desk seats when I want to sit since I used tall staircase newel posts for legs). The desks are 100% wood, but I find myself often wishing for a marriage of metal and wood. Thanks for the quick response and for the explanation on pick and pluck foam. You have helped me out in many ways today! Have a nice weekend! :)

Phillippia Fuqua no problem! I wanted a large space that was sturdy and this works great. It also has adjustable legs. I used to have it at standing desk height but I decided to lower it back down. But taller legs cost like $29 for a set of 4.
great music but do something about the echo in your room please.
You cut well because there are some who really do that like pigs! :-)
Nice video, however once I discovered Nanuk cases I decided I'd never purchase Pelican again.
