Awesome video! Do you have your sunroof open often? If so, do you feel more wind pushed onto your head with this rack?

bought a 19' pro last week with a full prinsu mounted on it.......I do not see an opening like I see on yours (on the sides) to insert anything and slide it across the rail........weird

Simple and straight to the point! awesome video Caleb. I recently bought a 2021 4Runner SR5 Premium and am in the market for a roof rack that doesn't rust and can withstand the elements. Have you had any rust or other issues with this roof rack?

No issues! It’s all aluminum, so never will rust.

Looking at the forward edges of the rack, the upward curve of the terminus prevents installing a large flat bottom item such as a large roof top tent (Condor XL) or similar flat bottom equipment. I've not seen one in person so my optics may be wrong. Can you comment on this statement? Thanks.

You are very much correct - this is the reason I’ve actually recently replaced this rack with a no-rise Gobi Stealth rack.

Do you remember the length of your crossbars by chance? I ordered one and the cross bars ended up being too short and measuring 44 inches.

What’s going on man just bought a new 4runner an it has the sunroof would I be able to mount a tent on it with this rack you put on your 4runner.?.?

I haven't tried, but as far as I know, yes. The rack is rated for 600#, and even if the front of the tent hung over the front edge of the rack (toward the windshield), there's no reason it shouldn't work.

Can anyone tell me if the front edge of the fairing actually rests on the paint? I'm concerned that the rubber edge will scratch/wear the paint as dust gets caught under it if it rests on the paint. Thanks

I would highly recommend you add a strip of PPF to the area where the fairing rests on the roof. I did not do this on my previous explorer and regretted it when i took the rack off when I sold the explorer. Did not make the mistake on my TRD OD! I've seen some folks wrap the entire roof before installing the rack - this will obviously get expensive but will definitely ensure your roof is protected - and will be much easier to clean.

Can you slide back the sunroof with that roof rack? It looks like it will hit the wind fairing?

Perry Camaliga You still have full use of the sun roof. The sunroof slides open inside of the roof, not on top of it.

Thanks brother. Didn't know that. I thought its the same as other sunroof that goes on top of the roof. I had my 4runner for 2 years and didn't know about it.

Perfect! Short, succinct, and sick. :) just ordered mine and this helps me prepare. I'll go get the silicone, thread tight, and that screwdriver now. :) using it in my Limited Nightshade I just got (four time 4 runner owner here).

How does this affect buffeting when the moonroof is open? Also, can awnings be attached to a 3/4?

No impact on buffeting, and I see no reason why you couldn’t attach an awning.

I have the full rack. Installed it and then had a 3 hour drive. zero noise at 89 mph and 50 mph wind gusts. You dont even know its there

Would a 3rd gen Tacoma double cab roof rack line up with a 5th gen 4runner as a 3/4 rack?

Logan Cook what do you mean by line up? If you mean would the same unit fit, I’m sure it wouldn’t, but I believe they make one for that setup.

Andrew Milnes you can buy the wind fairing that has a cutout for a light bar, but I don’t think I would do it, you’d have a ton of light hitting the roof and not the ground. I haven’t actually tested that myself, but if you want to put lights up there I’d definitely consider doing the full rack.

It makes no sense the OEM rack is not full length. If I ever replaced mine I would go full length with a 3rd party rack for sure.

Never was able to get a good look at the rack on the truck. Maybe it was too quick.
