    Thanks for watching! We did have some water issues. Ours was one that wasn't getting the seam sealer when we picked it up. They have a new process to prevent water issues and they're currently updating ours under warranty to address it. We were able to keep the windows open with the vinyl inserts in to keep the rain out. It was just a few seams leaking a little. We should be out for another week and a half doing some more "testing".

  • @DrifterJourney
    @DrifterJourney5 күн бұрын

    Thanks for watching! I'd imagine the tent material will show some wear after years of use. It is replaceable if needed. Tune doesn't make a hard sided model but there are a few on the market. The Oru Bruin is collapsible and has hard sides. You could sleep in it without popping the top if you created a space in the bed of the truck for that. A 6ft bed truck might be the best for something like that.

    There is a variation of the 5 gallon paint bucket method to make a human litter box suitable for truck and van camping. Use a 3 gallon paint bucket with a Gamma2 sealing lid. Its downside is that you do not get to use a toilet seat. The garbage bags need to be draped over the outer perimeter of the sealing lid when in use. The Trelino Evo S and the less expensive Boxio separation toilets are ideal for truck or van campers. Those two models only require a cubby space that is 12 inches high.

  • @DrifterJourney
    @DrifterJourney7 күн бұрын

    True, we ordered one of the screw-on lids when we first started van travel, thinking that we would use it when we were in transit. Turned out that we always just tied the bag off inside the bucket and put the toilet seat back on. Definitely like the look and design of the trelino better than the bucket!

    Thanks for the videos. I’m ready to put our name’s down for the Tune M1 but husband isn’t sold on the idea of sleeping over the cab. The idea of climbing up high onto a sleeping platform and feeling the movement from other people or the dogs shifting around at night has him worried about getting a good night’s sleep. Do you notice a lot of wobble while you’re sleeping? Do you mind the up and down dance of getting in and out of bed?

  • @DrifterJourney
    @DrifterJourney19 күн бұрын

    Thanks for the insightful question! We don't mind climbing up and down. You can use the bump out as a step, but it's a little high for me (jess) so I like to step up onto a bin or our fridge first. The hardest part about the height is getting Lupe in and out of bed! As for the rocking - it does move and shake, I would assume this depends on the stiffness of your suspension. We have soft suspension and I'm a light sleeper so it does keep me up if Greg or Lupe are moving around a lot. I think any camper sitting in the bed of a truck would do this, regardless of whether it hangs over the cab since the flex comes from the suspension, not so much from the part that is cantilevered over the cab. Hope that helps and keep the questions coming!

  • @DrifterJourney

    Thanks for watching! We think that a fan is a must have to help keep air moving on those hot, still nights. They also help with condensation. That's just our personal experience. I did think that I may have wanted to mount it off to the side after the fact but I don't think it will be an issue for my surfboards. We didn't upgrade the suspension (and didn't want to since the ZR2 comes with some good stuff) but it does sag a bit when fully loaded since our payload is so low. We may put an expedition leaf pack in when we find the money but it rides great as is. I think it will help a bit when we load it full for long trips.
