2022 Chevy Colorado Z71 4x4 V6. Go Fast Camper, Decked Drawer System, Fridge, 3000w Jackery, Badland 6 Ton Off Road Jack, lots of supplies/tools. On 33’s with Icon suspension. I run around 6,000 pounds and a bit more when on a trip… extra gas, water, food, etc. I get 7-9 MPG buzzing around town. Lot of stop and go driving. I can get 15-17 HWY depending on speed. I really want 35’s and steel bumpers but don’t want any more weight. I’m looking into getting an air dam made for the top. And yes I took off the bottom air dam for clearance and looks! Your rig looks sweet!

Thanks for watching! Sounds like yours is pretty dialed in. How do you like the Decked system? We've been looking at them. I'm curious where we'll be with weight once we get everything in. I'm really want a winch bumper but also don't want to have to modify the suspension. We bought the ZR2 for that fancy suspension so it would be a shame to have to change it.

Pretty much what I was expecting. Will be heading down to Colorado in a few weeks to pick mine up.

Thanks for watching! We looked really closely at the GFC. I love their business model and weight of the camper. Unfortunately we knew we needed more space for our long trips with the dog......and we got spoiled in our previous vans. We're glad we came across Tune because they are doing some pretty rad stuff too.

17 with the camper is very sweet. The problem with trucks is they're meant to do stuff that tanks the economy.

I have a 2021 F150 (hoping to get a Tune M1), towed a buddies short camper from San Antonio to Lubbock (400+ mi) and went from an average of 17mpg empty to 10 mpg (we were doing 65-70mph so not trying to be efficient at all).

Thanks for watching. Towing things definitely seems to mess the mpg's up quite a bit. The Tune seems like it will be a great fit for our overall needs.

So glad they went to that 4-cyl turbo for that increased MPG efficiency! /s

I thought about a 2022 diesel but had bad luck with a diesel Jeep in the past. We're also not too keen on all the emissions junk in them these days with our travels out of the U.S. (mostly Baja). We're glad that they were able to get more power and torque in this little 4 cylinder but we have to wait and see how it holds up.

So glad the 2.7L makes MORE hp than the old V6 and MORE torque than the outgoing diesel, AND loses a LOT less hp at altitude because it's a turbo motor. But thanks for playing Cleetus...

I've been enjoying watching all of your Tune content and have a question for you. I live in the Northeast and was thinking of getting one of these and leaving it on all year round. I don't have a garage or carport so the thing would be out in the weather 24/7/365. Any thoughts on how it will hold up and what things I could do to keep it in the best shape possible? Thanks.

  • @DrifterJourney

Thank you for watching! I don't think leaving it out will really hurt anything. Most of the outside is aluminum and the roof is some burly material. The only spots that seem to be affected by weather are the clamps and bolts that hold the actuators on (a few coastal folks have reported rust on those). I think it's mostly cosmetic and should be replaceable if there are any long term issues. Keeping it clean wouldn't hurt. Ours has been outside full time and never cleaned because we live on a dirt/mud road. It still looks great to me!

@@DrifterJourney I was up last weekend in CO, and did the easy Switzerland Trail, even tried out one of the little more difficult steep side loops. Put it in 4Lo, locked front and rear, and went up it like it was nothing. No slip at all even on the loose dirt on top of the hardpack. LOVE this truck! Glad yours is treating you well! I tell you though, NEVER get gas in Trinidad CO, they must put a TON of alcohol in it (less energy than gas/gallon), because that tank on the way down I was only getting 15mpg! And this wasn't the first time I'd had that experience there.

@@DrifterJourney On the highway and around town I run 43psi in the OEM tires, 36psi being recommended pressure and max load at 50psi being max, so, right in the middle. I'm positive that gets me probably 2mpg extra on these tires compared to the EPA rating since the sidewall is flexing a lot less going down the road. I tried out my new Staun tire deflators set to 29psi this weekend and they worked pretty well. Not the most accurate, but set them a psi or 2 over your desired pressure and just take that last psi or 2 out. WAY better than squatting next to each tire! Basically by the time I'd finished putting the 4th one on, the first had stopped. Nice! If you don't have them, I'd try them. Since I run higher pressures offroad than most (because I like to run faster when I can) so I don't bend a rim, I probably should have gotten the HD model as I'm near the top pressure for the standard ones. Either way, I really like them!

We have been using the Stauns since our van days in Baja. They are great time savers and definitely think they're worth the price. Maybe I'll try a little more air and see if we get better mpgs.

Thanks for watching! Based off my calculations, we should be able to bring around 300 pounds of gear with us. I still need to go weigh it when we're fully loaded to see how we did. It sags a bit when loaded so I may add an expedition leaf pack to level it up in the future. It handles great though as is.
