Bigtime McAlpine

Bigtime McAlpine

Welcome to my channel! I’ve got no real theme for it but most of the videos relate to DIY on my fleet of Volvo’s as well as some DIY videos on bike maintenance.

I try to produce videos that not only walk you through a job but also give you an appreciation for the bits that will suck up all your time. Given this I’m sure some of my videos will appear longer than they need to be (and heck some of them definitely are!) but I’m hopeful that what I’ve presented provides a FULL appreciation for how long and how complex each job is vs those videos out there that make everything seem easy. Happy viewing!

    3 yrs later and i'm ready to install a new pressure line, awd makes it difficult. i installed a mid rise lift 3 months ago to help working on the volvo but i can't even see the rack. This will be fun.

    Getting the bracket holes to align with the one on the mount and the three on the engine, so all four bolts could be easily started, seemed easy. What if they don't line up so well?

    Step one can only be done if you can open the tailgate, if you can't, then forget step 1 2 3 and all the other steps until you get the door opened. On the 2009 I had to cut a square hole on the inside of the tailgate to expose the lock and then poke, push, prod everything inside the lock to try and open it. Suffice to say, I was successful after several hours, several attempts and then it was a total fluke, by accident, it opened and I have no clue what I did or what I poked to open it. I had to remove the inside tailgate cover, (what was left of it), replace it as well as the tail gate lock after I removed the tailgate license plate and exposed the lock from the outside. Yes, you guessed it, had to cut another square hole with my angle grinder and cut off disk. Close to 2000 for replacement parts, shipping and tax. So grand to own a volvo you can't manually open.

  • @Bigtime_mcalpine
    @Bigtime_mcalpine22 күн бұрын

    You are probably right but search for this type of accident on KZread and you will find some scary fails. As for damage from a 6hp…I mean if you can’t get back to the boat for whatever reason and you are just bobbing out there, the 6hp may not be the worry…maybe it’s the 150hp coming through that doesn’t see your head bobbing about. Just sayin.

    Actually - believe it or not, I was unable to get my throttle air pipe back on after multiple attempts (it would not hold tight to the throttle). When I brought it to the dealership I told them I was losing my mind because getting pipe back on was so simple but it would not fit. The mech told me that when that mount fails, the angle of engine changes just enough to make it very difficult to install that large pipe.

    Having timed a couple of these t4s I've never removed the intake pulley 2 time one of these only if intake cam seal is leaking and when the belts back on it does not need to be loose it needs no adjustment. It just needs to be lined up to its mark on cover. Bolts need to be tight on non vvt gear when putting belt back on
