Welcome to my channel! I’ve got no real theme for it but most of the videos relate to DIY on my fleet of Volvo’s as well as some DIY videos on bike maintenance.
I try to produce videos that not only walk you through a job but also give you an appreciation for the bits that will suck up all your time. Given this I’m sure some of my videos will appear longer than they need to be (and heck some of them definitely are!) but I’m hopeful that what I’ve presented provides a FULL appreciation for how long and how complex each job is vs those videos out there that make everything seem easy. Happy viewing!

3 yrs later and i'm ready to install a new pressure line, awd makes it difficult. i installed a mid rise lift 3 months ago to help working on the volvo but i can't even see the rack. This will be fun.
Good luck! Yeah AWD adds a few annoying steps for sure!
Any video of it running on a boat and did you notice the speed increase and did you put a 10x15p prop on it?
So I am new to vida dice but not new to working on cars. I can see misfires but don't know if it will help me isolate the problem?
Getting the bracket holes to align with the one on the mount and the three on the engine, so all four bolts could be easily started, seemed easy. What if they don't line up so well?
Would this work for a 2003 Johnson 25 electric start
I am working on an '03 S80 which is squealing like a pig in hell when idling. do you think this is it?
@@smithimitron no, luckily the ‘03 has the traditional design of all accessories being powered by the aux belt. Without more info, I would guess maybe the p/s pump?
@@Bigtime_mcalpine so I found out that it was the vacuum diaphragm of all things
@@Bigtime_mcalpine but thanks for the reply
What type of rubber hose do you need for this?
I just used automotive windshield wiper hose but you can pretty much use whatever you have on hand. It’s just warm water.
@@Bigtime_mcalpine thanks.
What is the difference between a 30hp vs 35hp carburettor?
You are a true man of genius. Your pronouns are he and him. Very nice work using what you have and buying only what you need. You deserve a lift. And so do I.
Ive been running this motor with just gas im such an idiot. thank god i found this video before i did some damage..... 50:1 i see in one of your comments. THANK YOU-
Oh my…how long did you run it for without oil?
@@Bigtime_mcalpine two 5 to 6 hours fishing sessions. Engine on and off. Lmao
@@TheVinDicarlowow. That’s a dry ass motor. What a tank
Добрый день. Отличная работа! У меня такой же мотор, только с ручным стартером. Хотел поменять на электрический, но в нас в России запчастей почти нет на него
Step one can only be done if you can open the tailgate, if you can't, then forget step 1 2 3 and all the other steps until you get the door opened. On the 2009 I had to cut a square hole on the inside of the tailgate to expose the lock and then poke, push, prod everything inside the lock to try and open it. Suffice to say, I was successful after several hours, several attempts and then it was a total fluke, by accident, it opened and I have no clue what I did or what I poked to open it. I had to remove the inside tailgate cover, (what was left of it), replace it as well as the tail gate lock after I removed the tailgate license plate and exposed the lock from the outside. Yes, you guessed it, had to cut another square hole with my angle grinder and cut off disk. Close to 2000 for replacement parts, shipping and tax. So grand to own a volvo you can't manually open.
Wow.
What gets me about all this is who is stupid enough to get thrown from a boat.Got just as much chance of being hit by lightning. How much damage can a 6hp motor do?
You are probably right but search for this type of accident on KZread and you will find some scary fails. As for damage from a 6hp…I mean if you can’t get back to the boat for whatever reason and you are just bobbing out there, the 6hp may not be the worry…maybe it’s the 150hp coming through that doesn’t see your head bobbing about. Just sayin.
@Bigtime_mcalpine duck, only 12 states have this law and I had a time finding a kit surprised no speed signs.
I have a 102cc meant for a sail boat manual says 4 hp is there any way to get more out of the 102cc 2 stroke
Doubt it.
Nitromethane...
I have the same engine and had it overheat on me today due to a plugged line within the water pump system so I'm looking to do this. How has this been holding up for you? I wonder why this wasn't done from the factory?
All good so far!
hello how did you know that was the one? Any particular noise ? thank you very much
Actually - believe it or not, I was unable to get my throttle air pipe back on after multiple attempts (it would not hold tight to the throttle). When I brought it to the dealership I told them I was losing my mind because getting pipe back on was so simple but it would not fit. The mech told me that when that mount fails, the angle of engine changes just enough to make it very difficult to install that large pipe.
Have a part number for the switch or a link? Thanks.
My ‘82 110 thunderbolt on a 12ft v-hull Klamath will do 34kph, no idea what that is in nots but its got plenty of power for a 9.8
Agreed. 16kts = 30kph so that’s close and more than fast enough for a little tin boat.
Sadly, LeroysRamblings website is gone :(
Where do I get the actual dice driver for windows
From eBay. Just be sure to buy from a seller with lots of sales and good feedback.
Really smart ``auxiliary bolts'' for tire fitting. The tire rattles a bit and especially when tired and cold it feels like the devil!
This is a great video! I have exactly those rollers, and that exact issue. Where does one buy the bearings?
You have saved me a lot of trouble
Thank you. Your video helped me open my 2007 Volvo V70 from the inside. Bravo!
Thunderbolt 110 are closer to 12 horsepower. In 1984 the regulations changed for Dyno testing outboard motors, because some of the manufacturers were under-rating their engines to beat the competition
Thanks for explaining car symptoms and diagnosis testing. Btw I’m scared to death of turning that petcock and braking it. Always remove the hose
Qual a utilidade deste botão na lateral?
It's an Idle limit adjustment.
brass nut that fell off there was meant to be a plastic retainer on shaft that nut pulls down on to lol
Heat the side you're cutting with a heat gun or hair dryer, the glue will let go. Just clean off the excess glue and it will reassemble like new.
F m…wish I would have thought of that. Thanks.
I have done this job before on my v70. A little tip is to put Vaseline on all the clips on the surround, it makes it easier to get it off next time without breaking them.
I had similar problem......did put planty of Brunox spray for locks and stuff, handle started to work fine.
Very enjoy
I have the same exact problem on my Evinrude, problem is where can I find a source for those parts?
Marineengine.com should have what you need. It’s amazing that most of these parts are still available when these motors are 40 years old!
I only get test no adaption ability off the throttle. 2001 v70 2.4t
What is the maximum speed of your engine?
I thought that angle gears are different on 01-02 models and newer models due to different gear ratios. Also the torque for the pinion nut is between 138-147nm if my memory on vida spec is correct
Removed mine a few days ago running blind, made the same comments about space, then I came across your video... 😁😁. At least I got the dismantling right, the rest was a breeze after watching the video... thx 😉. Mine is the 1998 OMC/Evinrude 35HP version.
Tip WD40 every thread BEFORE starting the job 2/3 days before will give you a chance with basic hand tools
Inner Exhaust Covers are different between the engines. Throttle Cams were also different
Do I need to do adaptation after I cleaned it?
Some 20 hp reeds look like 3 leaf clover flower you have the better reeds biger hole for 30 35 look like triangle hole what it needs ✌️
Hey just fyi the timing is different also need to open up reed stops. Great stuff here
Thanks - how do you mean “open up the reed stops?”
@@Bigtime_mcalpine no need to touch reeds 🙃🕵️
15 pitch 30 n up 20 hp 11 12 pitch
We had both a 7.5 and 9.8. As a kid, I used to take the 9.8 and leave the 7.5 for my dad. haha. Even just the sound of this running brings back some very fond memories. Thanks for posting. :)
Its imposible the second part, the mf. Airbag dont fucking go out. Fuck shitty volvos
Having timed a couple of these t4s I've never removed the intake pulley 2 time one of these only if intake cam seal is leaking and when the belts back on it does not need to be loose it needs no adjustment. It just needs to be lined up to its mark on cover. Bolts need to be tight on non vvt gear when putting belt back on
I am curious where you learned the practice of loosening intake cam bolts for adjustment
squirt some lube under the stator plate..
these motors are legendary.. from a time when the average guy could fix it.. just got a 9.9 and excited to restore it.
Hey, is the lip seal the only source of oil leak for your car? Did the READ timing covers and the rear main seal leak for your car? Thanks.
Yes, that was the only source of oil leaking for me.
I think I will just fork over the $200 to have the shop do it 😂
I did a lot of these motors 🙋🍿
That carb is a 30 A35 carb doesn't have that brass bar in side of the throat. You can take it out from the top crome cap ✌️gane 5 hp hope this helps
Really? Have you pulled the brass bar on any yourself? You’ve got me curious about what it’s for.
@@Bigtime_mcalpine yes I took mine out what it does is makes it 30 with it 35 with out big time gain people don't no in these channels popping up 🤣u might see my comments but back to the chalkboard carb kits on line some have freeze caps for the top now 38hp Johnson carb same size an jets .
