Replacing Radiator Fan and Thermostat 2010 V70/XC70 P3

Not one of my best filming jobs...had the footage and figured I should probably post anyway. Replacing the fan addressed my issue completely and I have not had any re-occurrences of engine overheating. As I mention in the video replacing the thermostat at this mileage (255k km / 160k miles) is probably a good idea. The housing on mine was quite brittle and parts of it disintegrated when I took the old one out.

I changed thermostat housing and fan on 2009 s80. It’s very tight spots. Don’t have to take off anything. The fan pull left, then right, back and forth, it will come out just about enough room.

Replaced my Thermostat and all the coolant and Radiator Hoses (9 in total) new coolant, Reservoir at 47,000 kms in my 2009 XC70 3.2 a week ago and the Thermostat was disintegrated like yours at very low Kms. It’s more a time issue then distance travelled. Volvo should of recalled it.

What was your car doing that you knew the fan was bad?
