Although I know a lot of people hate 343’s productions of some of Halo’s more recent games, I still really enjoyed every one of the Halo games because they’re so story-rich. I played some of the games included in the trilogy but I was much younger and couldn’t understand anything. This hour long explanation from start to finish really cleared it up for me because I haven’t really dived into Halo’s lore. For the next game coming up in several years (anniversary), I’m hoping it incorporates some of H1-3, CE, Reach, or Infinite. The game honestly looks a lot cleaner on Infinite (plus grapple and other deployables that I find really fun, also clamber and sprint) but the other games include characters and storyline that I enjoyed more. And was what Cortana said at the end actually legitimate? Did she actually regret her choices?

No matter how advanced life [in the universe] is, there seems to an inescapable need for war. The human’s are always outnumbered, outgunned, and (physically) puny compared to their adversaries - the first war should be a complete end to the human species! In every encounter the humans are armed with cap pistols (from the 20th century!), while the more advanced “aliens” are armed with fantastic high energy plasma lasers beams, light swords, blasters, etc. Yet the humans win in the end? !

The covenant was already failing, so as soon as the elites were betrayed it was gg for the prophets. Think of it like WW2 when Hitler betrayed Stalin, Hitler probably would of won. Also the humans aren't using "PoP guns, for example MAC rounds weigh 3000 pounds and are moving at 18 miles a second....that's alot of fucking power. Almost every gun is shooting higher calibers than modern rifles that are loaded with explosive rounds/AP and have 0 recoil. Smart links make the normal soldier 10x more effective than soldiers of today making near impossible shots normal. You have to look into the lore and dig to realize yes the covenant were advanced but they were lacking what humanity had..... massive fucking balls, better ground game, and Spartans.

Crazy to think the Covenant was founded on lies. Considering some Forerunners, like the Librarian, and the AI, believed humanity was the rightful heir to the mantle. Makes more sense that Arbiter and some Elites defected. But, humanity, as always, we’re resilient. Some Covenant probably started having doubts when humanity pushed them back several times, even destroying much of their armada when the Covenant tried to invade Earth.

It's hard to tell who was most at fault for so much war and bloodshed. I mean, the Precursors and Forerunners both races seemed flawed, both succumbing to hubris. Humans are just as flawed, but we didn't outright slaughter millions. Then again, maybe all races in the early parts of the lore were at fault. Too greedy to share power, too much hubris playing God, or simply too quick to draw blood. Still, the lore behind the story is very fascinating philosophically.

It really is so annoying how obvious it was that 343 just threw new problems at the wall that had no pervious mention. The Guardians? The Endless? You're telling me nobody would've mentioned them before? The Guardians are arguably more important than the ark but 343 just needed to make something new up
