My mom got a Bronco in 2020. I want to say it’s a good mower but it’s a POS at the same time. There belts are ridiculous can’t find anything on YT how to work on this model. Everything is a pony or something else. You have upper and lower transmission belts plus deck belts. Can’t find any info about lower transmission or about the idler pulleys for the transmission. Everything you find is for upper or it’s not the model so it doesn’t help. Also new to take body off because my son decided to take off one of the idler pulleys now there is a nut that we can’t get to unless the body is off. Even if we could find and get the nut there is no way to get a wrench on it to tighten up the Pulley.

I have the TroyBuilt Horse XP 46" with 20 hp Kohler and it runs great. Check the 2 bolts under the flywheel and the valve cover bolts for tightness.

Does the troy bilt 42inch 500cc 15.5 hp pony have an oil filter, I haven't located on on mine.

Having same issues... no carb which is annoying, can't get it to start, and ya, I couldn't believe that the gas tank is leaking... bought last fall, only used 4 times, paid good money. Very disappointing.

Bought a used Pony with a rebuilt 18 hp pressure lubed with Oil Filter Briggs & Stratton rebuilt Intek from a Craftsman. So now I have basically a Bronco. The Craftsman mowers that Lowe’s sells now are in fact re-branded Troy-Bilts

I have one a tad newer. The only thing I noticed that is different is the filter and mine is a Briggs and Stratton motor (540cc). But it has done really good until it started leaking oil in the front. I have to check and see if the seal is bad on the valve cover or if it needs to be tightened . I have been searching all night to find the right gasket, but think it just uses a silicone seal. Which is fine. Otherwise I have been using mine for 3 summers, going on the 4th this season! Can't wait to get out there and start mowing our acre and a quarter of Alaskan wilderness! It really is a tough little ride on. I paid $1499 for my Bronco.

This is a very sturdy and well built mower. I thought I wouldn't like the foot operated speed control but after one use kzread.infoUgkxTZSPVwJFBv2hORqhQamtxi-tAe5K2EtC , I can't believe I ever had one without it. It drives like a car with an automatic transmission. Easy to adjust mowing speed according to grass depth/thickness. I have yet to get used to the long throw of the blade engagement lever but kind of get why it is that way. It allows you to hold mowing for short moments if you need. The engine seems very substantial and the frame has very little flex, both adding up to an impressive package. All my previous tractors were 18 to21 hp with 42in decks. This one is 23/46. I mow about 1.5 acres about every 5 days here in Alaska and that mowing time has been reduced by about 20%, partly due to the very tight turning radius. No loop arounds lol. Hour meter, cruise control, reverse mowing capability, deck cleanout and easy assembly all add up to a very well thought out tractor.

Just got a 2017 for $450. Wanted a new Cub Cadet but just couldn't stomach the price of new mowers lately especially after the last few years of inflation. Think I got a good deal on the Bronco and I'm hoping it gives me some good years of service. Writing this now in 2023, almost none of the local big box stores in middle TN seem to be carrying Troy Bilt. Home Depot, Lowes, Ace Hardware, all don't carry it. Tractor Supply seems to be the only place that still sells them. But as long as I can get parts I'm not worried about that.
