KIG Outdoors, did you seal the pressure treated lumber before you carpeted? I am building and I am about to carpet my deck. the in/out adhesive says not to. Thanks for your reseach on the pressure wood, I was about to start over too...whew!

I have enjoyed your series so much! I am currently framing in my 12’ sea king and so nervous about going over the top because I’m not sure how tipsy a 12’ will be when decked. Have you been able to fish yours yet to give me an idea?

Just swallow the bitter pill and do it right. A job not done right is not worth doing. As you said, you got the thing looking great, why invite the questions? It's like doing a real nice paint job on a classic car restoration project, and you notice there's a small sag in the paint at the lower part of the quarter panel. You know what you have to do, but you don't want to do it because it requires more time and work, but do you let that sag define the car? Of course not. You block it out, buff it out, and if necessary, you repaint the quarter panel. It's not about "OCD", but about taking pride in your work. This is what separates the mediocre from the masterpiece. You didn't just "slap it all together" before, so don't drop the ball on the last yard line.

Did you use stainless steel staples? My first rebuild of a boat I used regular staples and what a mess with the rust stains.

Well crap..... it didn't even cross my mind. I did some research and the staples that i used are galvanized coated but i know they will rust! Well shoot, now what! Lol thank you for commenting! Not!! J/k

After a few times out in the weather and fish slime on it, no one will tell the difference plus it's a fishing boat, not a chick magnet and the fish really don't care. LMAO In 2001 I found out the hard way, my wife got her divorce in 1998. So I had lot more money to spend. So I bought a 2001 TR 20 Triton with a 225 hp Yamaha that leaves a lot of boats in the wake. But the only people who came around were dudes. I never hardly have any woman want to be near the boat.

The carpet does not bother me. Actually it kinda gives you a space to keep your feet in. Lol. If you have extra carpet left maybe. But if you don’t I would not change it. But it’s personal opinion.

@@KIGOutdoors I am a couple steps behind you on a build of my own. So it's great to watch your stuff. I am treating my wood with oil based enamel. And in Indiana it might take 3 days to dry. I've been painting for 3 weeks.
