Borderline Explorer is a KZread channel created to share our adventures. We began as car-campers staying strictly on campsites with showers and restrooms. Curiosity kept taking us deeper into nature and here we are now. Make memories with us as we explore trails and campsites mainly in Southern California. Have fun with us as we hit trails, review products, and share gained knowledge from our travels.
Explore when you can and dream when you can't. Not all of us are hardcore... most of us just.. Borderline Explorers.

Great underwater beer cam!😁👍
This video gives me hope. About to start my 2006 MDX touring build! It’s got 209k and the same seat tear 😂
I thought I was watching morr at first 😂
Good stuff! Is this a Maggiolina RTT? What size?
Why didn't you video the Jeeps

Like a poser swing
To the 1st Gen Mdx owners consider installing a transmission cooler with Fan and a switch. it helps the transmission from overheating when climbing so far haven’t seen warning sign from atf when i installed it.
Going to do this with plastic bolts and nuts! That way no harm to the tires and I can replace them when I want
Growing up my dad had a red manual 2d fwd 92 navajo.. as a kid I remember sitting in the back pushing on the window to open it, and playing with the little ash tray under the window. My dad had it until 2006 when he bought a new car and traded it in.. he told me it only had 60k on the dash when he traded it in 😭
How do you like the Disco 15? Im thinking about getting one. Im 5'8 but have beoad shoulders so i need a bag with a little more room. Should i get the nemo or opt for something more expensive and lighter?
I'm a side/stomach sleeper and use a quilt. Just got the Disco and it's got enough space for me.
kinda funny/sad to think about this video a few years later... at the time, people were upset that the deep crossing was made so much easier/// now any time it or the next crossing get any kind of depth even over 1 foot... people wimp out and go around destroying vegetation, tearing up fences and cutting barriers even... pathetic how weak everyone has become. all that money for a vehicle that can do anything and they are afraid to get a little mud on it....// i wish more people had that attitude of the guy who made this video, people should want those deep crossings....
Any updates on how these worked? Any videos of them in action?
As an MDX owner I am impressed. Keep up the good work!
When are you guys going to go again in 2024?
This sleeping bag is shit...thermarest is questar if far superior
I lived in that area rode a triumph chopper over that pass beautiful ride
The first hinest review ive seen so many ads on KZread pretending to be reviews i feel bad for people not as tedious who see 1 garbage can doing an ad pretending to be a review
Poserlanders😅😅😅. I check it all off, but I actually do rockcrawling too. So rocklanding is what I say 😅
Great channel! Thank you!!
JMHO, the Dirtcom is superior to both the Rigd and Wilco
just pull forward and back down to the next turn wouldnt work?
I just ordered one for my 2023 Subaru Ascent. They make an AE version (low clearance), since the Ascent hitch receiver is really high and the standard Trail Swing would block the gate from opening even when swung out. I wanted something that could be locked into place, because I plan on using it with the FrontRunner table (which I also ordered from DirtCom), so it needs to swing out and lock into place. Anyway, I love the product design and the passion from the people at the company. I made 3 calls to them so far and every time I spoke with someone knowledgeable and willing to take time to listen to my questions and get actual answers. Customer service so far has been way over the top. Hopefully it's a good long-term product! Definitely expensive, but I wanted the best and most useful, since my Wife will need to swing out the hitch to get into the trunk. I wanted it to be as easy as possible. I ALMOST went with the Wilco brand, but saw too many reviews talking about a sticky pin. I like the Rigd and Dirtcom latch design much better.
Yup then tell me all about it. Sobi can donit too! 😊 good luck man
Enter from the east side but they will charge you when or if you exit through the park gate. If you go back the way you came no fee for anything. Times before they charged per vehicle.... now its per person
That road belongs to the railroad and it wouldn’t even be there if it weren’t for the tracks. The railroad trumps the BLM and was around 100 years before the BLM even existed. Basically, they don’t answer to any local or even state authority. Railroad property isn’t even considered a part of a state, it is a separate entity.
Maybe try and apply some spray bed liner material for some durability, waterproofing, traction, and easy cleaning. Great stuff, I had the same idea and wanted to see if anyone else did it!
Let's see what she can do.
I’m a guy but just got the woman’s long for the extra fill. The bag is nice and roomy compared to my old Sierra Designs. I like it so far.
Cool I'm looking for one
👍
Did that on a one leger econoline 150 😅
Way too many people. I overland to get away from the crowds. You might as well overland on the 101 with that many people.
Do you have coordinates for poser rock?
Planning on going to Mojave this weekened. Where is it allowed to shoot out there? 38:21
Really cool to see 2nd gen mdx used like this. The spare tire mount used is a genius at work with gas can and grill even !! Would love more info on that since I cant see enough to figure it out.
What did you with the MDX?
We made a poorly equipped, rushed one night run through ,out of the trail last year but after watching this I have to do it again.
And I was in high school in the late 90s my buddy got a almost turquoise green 1993 Navajo. I remember thinking it was sus being 6 years old but only having seven thousand miles on it until he drove it home from the dealership and it still had the original Factory floor mats in plastic in the back. It was a 5-speed with a flip-up sunroof. I know it was identical to the Explorer Sport but it had nicer materials inside and a better radio. It was reliable it held up for about 200k miles
Sorry Robert L we were not meant to outlive our children 😢
Subby sure loves to brake going uphill.
What size tires are you running in this video? Please
Camera relocation?
Too expensive for too little of a tire. smh Great vid!!
Couldn’t help but notice the drone footage. Maybe somebody already mentioned it but drones are illegal in the preserve. Heavy fines if caught. Other than that, nice job. We’re looking forward to driving the road in a week or two.
Awesome video, love seeing some hondas out there in sea of jeeps and toyotas. Just purchase a 2020 mdx aspec awd. Like to build it up for some overlanding off road not as narly as this obcourse . Completely new to this and located in Dallas fort worth like link up and learn if possible. thanks
Mdx👍💪💪💪
I owned a 2001 MDX for many years, had 300K+ miles on it until I was rear-ended and it was totalled. I never went off-roading with it like this, but glad to see it is a cable car. I have a 2009 MDX now, hope to keep it for a while!
Original transmission ?
@@Fyourfeelingz Right before it was totaled, I had the transmission rebuilt, so it was an especially sad moment!
