Nemo Disco 15 [2020 Version] Sleeping Bag Impressions

I stumbled upon the Nemo Disco 15 wandering around REI and recalled seeing it on BackCountry a few weeks back It looks like Nemo's marketing efforts worked on me. Seeing the Disco in person was awesome. I could feel the fluff and puff of 650 down fill and fell in love with it. My wife has the female version of this bag in green and I've got the male version of the bag in blue. They come in regular and long sizes, male or female, 15 degree or 30 degree ratings.

You don't want to be too warm in Alaska, otherwise you'll just end up as a s'more for an 800 lb. brown bear...."Hey, hey, hey, Boo-boo!"

I don't know but I suspect dry cleaning fluids would be used since they are non-wetting (hence "dry" cleaning) and maybe wouldn't be stopped by the hydrophobic coating?

Awesome Michael! I'm testing some different sleeping pads to see which combo is warmest / packs down smallest. Which pad do you use?

I’m a guy but just got the woman’s long for the extra fill. The bag is nice and roomy compared to my old Sierra Designs. I like it so far.

I'm actually looking into trading up into the Riff. It's basically the same bag but with 800fp instead of 650fp.

Thanks for your comment! Many things can affect how comfortable we sleep throughout a cold night. At 22F we were uncomfortable but got some sleep in. Low 30s the bag passes for overnight comfort. High 30s I'd say we won't be cold. So many factors contribute though. Tent insulation and sleeping pad insulation are huge.

Does it have a dual zipper so to air out your feet if they get hot ?

  • @BorderlineExplorer

The main zipper has a top and a bottom zip but the foot box does not have its own dedicated zipper. I've slept with socks off and so far no issues.

I had just tested out this bag for a hammock camping trip and as I stated in the REI comments was that this bag is good for temps above 35degrees. Even though this bag says it rates for 15 aah no it is not. I slept in 20 degrees and I had to place my Seria 20 degree puddle quilt in there and my jacket to keep my feet warm. Also if you don’t have a pad your butt will be cold. I even had a 0 degree under quilt from hammock gear and all Cocoon in a Warbonnet sock. That was enough to slept warm. I have a cabelas -20 Alaskan sleeping bag for my cold weather days and let me tell you I swear in that baby. Price is heavy. The cost for my -20 was the same for this 15 rated bag and must people that are not as rich are not going to pay 400.00 for the Nemo 0 degree bag. That’s just way to much. Zippers should be bigger and on both sides and those zippers for the vents are way too small. They are like zippers for women’s dresses. Do even think of trying to zip them with gloves on. They should make them bigger. It really didn’t matter to even have them. I didn’t get hot enough to open it so I kept them closed. Nemo should step back and make some changes. I think if they put 850 in there it will be the rating for the bag. I did a lot of research before I bought this bag mainly for hammocking cold weather and was not as impressed as I thought I would especially if I’m paying over 300.00 for a bag. It weighs like nothing, so extra fill is not going to compromise weight. Nemo as a die hard tent and hammock camper, make those improvements and this bag will be much better. One good thing it kept the frost off my bag. Happy trails Lonsol.

I like how small it packs down compared to synthetic alternatives. Maybe one day synthetic will pack down just as small and drive down the price of down fills.
