When I started my channel I did not choose a catchy name because I did not think that I would be a major model railroading video source one day, so I apologize for the strange name. My channel has a variety of info about Model Railroading in many scales, primarily HO scale. I try to respond to everyone's questions to help them along with their journey. Overall, I hope my relaxed yet descriptive approach to modeling will assist those new and old in this great hobby. - James

This is my childhood also why was there an Amtrak engine in the middle?
This is Gauge 1 (1/32) scale as distinct from G scale (1/29) running on 45mm gauge track....
Hello .Can you do a review on the new TCS sound release on these Bach GE dash 8'?
Can you do a unboxing and review on the atlas PRR u30c
Is it DC or DCC
Non operating rear ditch lights?? This is not acceptable for these days with this price range. All other companies got this featured nailed down years ago. Cab lighting is a cool feature but there's no way to dimmed it down. I did asked BLI about this few years ago before Paragon 4 came out and they still have not changed.
One small problem I had on both of mine was the misalignment of the Budd brake disc which caused rubbing on the axle and drag on the car. Because this assembly is glued in place there was no 'adjusting' it. I had hoped to remove them and ream the opening larger for more axle clearance. The brake disc is a clever detail but I chose to remove them as they hampered smooth running. One very MINOR nitpick would be that I'd like to see the signboards for the car name sit more flush with the side of the fluting. On the actual cars they didn't quite protrude away from the fluting as much as the models depict. Still, great cars and I sure hope to see more. An New York Central 'Brook' series bedroom-lounge-observation would be nice!
good video there brother james i like that work bench and nice looking passager car did you get the wand to turn the light?? well good video Mr James thank for sharing robert
I'm on the fence about this model. Apparently these slumber coaches did run on the Amtrak San Francisco Zephyr but only to Denver and not between Denver and Sacramento.
James, I liked this review. I have pretty old Rapido C&NW cars, and they are not very good. And I have more BLI California Zephyr cars than existed in real life. And these BLI cars are real rubbish. The intention was good I think, but the end result of the lamination process used to construct them was a complete mess. Warped sides, bowed chassis, you name it. It takes hours to fix a single car. So Rapido is to be encouraged with cars at this level. At least they are trying.
The detail is AWESOME, especially the underbody detail. And the cars are beautiful. I tip my hat to Rapido. 🎩
Can Rapido make some SP Daylight cars? Got the GS-4 from BLI but there is no rolling stock!
Many match Rapido on price, but none match them on detail, quality and customer service. I actually think these are a relative bargain compared to all the other half hearted releases at this price point from other manufacturers. . .
they are pretty nice!
great review . I have some of their older passenger cars for the Norfolk and Western , the interior have insane detail , the interior doors have knobs on them ,the toilets have flush handles. the only time that you can see this is when you take the car apart to change the batteries,
Can they run on 22inch S curve no straight piece in middle just a S curve
I don't think that would work. They said 22 would require modifying trucks or underframe. The S curve would make it even more of an issue. Recommended minimum without modifications is 24.
I did a review on them when they came out. I have phase lll Loch Leven. Man, I've all but replaced much of my passenger equipment with Rapido passenger cars! Not only that, they have an exuberant amount of details, they don't derail!
Since I'm modeling the Amtrak San Francisco Zephyr, it appears very few Rapido passenger cars represent those used on the real train, which I road twice in the 70's. So I've resorted to Walthers cars representing former Santa Fe, UP and other roads that got painted to Amtrak schemes. That said, Rapdo is coming out with the SP 3/4 dome car which did run on the San Francisco Zephyr.
BTW, what is your minimum curve radius?
@@riogrande5761 24 inch.
I have a few of these cars and they are outstanding.
Awesome details
Holy buckets! The detail is off the charts! 😳😳😳❤️
Hi James & it's is Randy and i like yours video is Cool & Thanks James & Friends Randy
how much
I have one also, however you do not mention what control system you are using. I am using Digitraxx and the NMRA standard is that function 8 is engine start. On this engine function 1 and 2 is engine start. The big problem is that function 2 is momentary so the second motor does not stay on. Another item is that an engine that heavy shouldn't need traction tires, but this one has them and that cuts down on the electrical contact so it stalls on crossings. Otherwise, it is a great looking locomotive for my industrial switching railroad.
Hey that’s Eric’s layout, there is no mistaking that nice bridge, aloha Eric
That would explain why they are over $700 being mostly brass
The First thing I have to say is that you had over $1,100.00 worth of Broadway Limited ES44AC locomotives on that display cake turner. They all look impressive together and you're a lucky man. Great video, Jersey Bill
As always Great Review! BLI did a great job overall on these can't wait for Scale Train release of the first 5 CSX Heritage Units in December!
Hi James I was able to connect the engine with my massoth unit for the engine how do you connect the tank cars for water operation in dcc
James, it would be helpful if you would zoom in when you're going over these engines.
Great looking car. The printing on the (UNPX Blue Stencil) is crisp. Got 4 from my local dealer and the weight is loose in two of the cars, both were item 560001A, Road Numbers: 122104/122110. E-mailed Rapido, and told them I'm running them as is. the cars are still balanced and I see no future problems with them.
These covered hopper cars look very good. 👍
Number boards and front door are placed wrong on the CP 8781 model
Yeah it’s supposed to be an early generation GEVO
Can you turn off the cab light?
Thanks for posting the information on the replacement P42 shell. I sent them my information and got email invoice that my free shell is on the way. Suppose to be here Sat 29th.
where did you get that water tower at the start of the video
Hi James, please review ES44 C&NW... I think is nice look. thank you
At 15:01 wasn’t this owned by an airline back then
nose head lights are so awesome, roof ones look so bad on wide bodies
Very cool.
It’s already obsolete, now it needs PTC added 😂
I wouldn’t buy a product that doesn’t have a detail, because some parts aren’t available at the production time. Especially the light details are very obvious and important details.
Those details on that CP unit look wrong? I don't recall seeing a UP ES44 version with the "split" dynamic brakes with that particular road number. I think that someone dropped the ball on that project but if anyone wants to spend their money on it, whom am I to stop them.🤷♂️🤐
Is there anything that prevents UP from doing a Southern Pacific paint scheme?
They do have an SP heritage engine. They painted it in the SP Daylight color scheme.
Scale Trains is going to make more of the CSX Heritage units.
End of a era
Nice, solid looking model from BLI. Also your eyes weren't playing tricks on you, James, the ditch lights didn't flash when you blew the regular horn the first time. Interesting they did with the alternate horn and then again when going back to the standard horn, though. Great review as always!
Do they still have smoke units in them?
No they’re removed
@jlwii2000 well thats a bummer i wonder why
do they have smoke units? you didn't mention so I going to guess no.
Nope, they got rid of the smoke units
@@jlwii2000 thanks
@@jlwii2000Thank the gods.
Hate to say this CSX heritage units are badly painted just saying sorry not sorry
Are you referring to the actual real life locomotives, or the models? Or are you referring to the fact that they still paint the CSX scheme on the nose of the heritage units?
I think he is referring to the fact that CSX didn't paint their locomotives in full herratige paint.
@@Shaken_AND_Stirred All the above assholes
I mean, that's something you're gonna have to take up with CSX management. They are the ones who decided to do them this way and will continue to do them, no matter how much people complaining about them, it is what it is!
@@canadiantrainpersonOh no the model is accurate?!?! 😅
Hi James & it's is Randy and i like yours video is Cool & Thanks James &Friends Randy
THAT's what all the big fuss was about?
