The Mark Thomas Builder Channel features tool reviews, home improvement, and DIY projects.
I've held a Residential Builders License in the State of Michigan since 2008 and also have experience in professional lawn-care. My goal in each review video is to help the viewer see if the tool is right for them by putting it to the test. I also enjoy featuring new tools on my channel, and occasionally before the tool is available to the public.
I also feature home improvement projects where I give my best advice, which I hope will inspire those who are ready to grab some tools and get started.
Please leave a comment on my videos, I definitely enjoy responding and engaging with the MTB community!!

Looks cool
Great video Mark. All the info I was looking for.
Excellent information on this video. Thanks
That’s a pretty goofy way to get your angle. Why couldn’t they design it with the guide next to the belt! This is a big no-no for me because good luck maintaining that exact angle.
I haven't tried their other model, the precision adjust knife sharpener. That might be more of what you're looking for.
You sir, are a godsend. I bought a new pressure washer last year, treating myself for father's day, but procrastinated until last night when I finally assembled it. Stupid me started it without it having oil - who knew? Well, now I know... Anyway, it turned over for a minute and then died. Couldn't turn it over, was thinking it would be a $400 paperweight. You saved me! Thank you - thank you - thank you!
Oh wow, glad to hear this worked for you! 💯🙌
I wish you would stop selling shit and get to the point.
OMG! Same thing for my wife’s 2013 Ford Escape. I tried compressed air and a screw but the screw came out without the dipstick
Interesting...I never thought of trying compressed air.
i find that milwaulkee tools run/operate the best with a 12.0 batt, best batt equipiment on the market
Yeah, it's a great battery!
I noticed that you scrupulously avoided using the Sun Joe to pick up leaves on the grass, why? Couldn't possibly be because it doesn't work very well on grass could it?
If the leaves go on the lawn, then I figure my mower will mulch them up.
@@MarkThomasBuilder "Figuring" isn't the same as doing it! Real gardeners have too deal with leaves matted down and together by dew and rain so they tend stick to each other in bunches, even when dried out, and the lawn itself may be several inches high instead of new-mown like yours. The real problem is that these leaf vacs are all conceived on the model of the household vacuum cleaner instead of having some kind of rotating raking device on the front end of the tube like a snow blower to get the leaves up and into the air stream.
I have this one. I got it back in November of 2017 just before Thanksgiving that year. Still have it to this day and still going strong.
It's a great blower! I just used it today!
Great video pal
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it!
Followed your protocol and still unable to crank engine.
I'm pretty sure I let mine sit for a day or 2 before trying to manually moving the crank. I'm not a small engine expert, but that's what worked for me. Also, if you do get it fixed, I heard to get in the habit of turning off the fuel a minute before shutting it off, so the fuel gets burned off.
Hey that's an awesome work bench!
Thanks, I love it!🙌
When’s livestream Mark Thomas
Hey Jeremy, the news releases have been a little light the past few weeks. I may have to push it back to next week. I might see about a guest if there's not much else being announced.
i would probbaly say stihl
How do you lift large logs into the truck?
I split them in half it they're too heavy. The big rounds I roll into my landscape trailer on the mesh ramp.
Have you had any issues locking the top lid? I can only lock the drawers if the lid is not closed.
I haven't had any issues. I don't lock mine, but remember testing all the locks initially.
Atleast you know how to pronounce ryobi unlike the tool review zone guy
😂😂🙌
@@MarkThomasBuilder he's a idiot. Even tti told him how it's pronounced amd he won't do it the right way. I told him one time if he pronounced it right I'd subscribe to his channel amd he told me keep walkin. Go check his videos if you haven't seen them on ryobi tools
I like how you can adjust how convex the grind is on this one. I could envision a Mk.3 that has a couple tensioners you could use to have the belt run inverted very slightly or at least made to be totally flat - thusly enabling more versatility in the sharpener.
I sharpened a landscape edger with this using the adjustment closest to a flat grind. I'm very happy with the results. I wouldn't mind if the grind was totally flat.
would be nice to see you load the paint into that bag and clean it after use instead of filler material like the brand of paint, etc...important to see how much of a pain in the ass it is to do the tedious things and how messy it is etc...
Sounds like a good idea for a follow up video...
F150 which size is best 3, 5 or 7 inch drop?
I used to have a F150 but didn't have this hitch at the time. I'd say a 5 inch drop would work best.
How did you get the 90 Degree angle ?
If you have the 3 plane laser, you can get the 90° angle with this laser detector.
@@MarkThomasBuilder Thank you !
@@MarkThomasBuilder I have a 3622-20
I have the pro sweep but think the pro paddle is a tiny bit better. Oh well
Probably so, but you still have a handy tool.
Still couldn't decide, so I went into the hardware store and asked which one they sell more of: The local contractors use 21s here, so a 21 came home with me today.
250 for a fan
Will this table accept different plates and or a lift?
I have owned both brands. Stihl was the premium back in the day. With attachments: multiple different blades, harnesses, handles, face shield and muffs cost us a small fortune. Loved it though. Echo is my go to now. Currently have had a straight shaft for over 8 years doing basic tune ups, and just today having to replace the Recoil starter assembly. I run it into the ground and like a timex takes a licking and keeps on ticking. Just purchased another one on sale at Home depot to dedicate it with a blade kit. Thanks for the time you took. Good comparison.
Thanks Cheryl, I've had better luck with ECHO trimmers. The one in this video is a champ!
Many uses for bench tops (float charge, maintainer when working on vehicle) . I use mine to recharge my vehicles to 90 percent or greater when doing oil change and to re condition older batteries.
That's a great idea! I should check my vehicle and see how far it is from 90.
Really helped me out man. Thank you!
Glad to hear it, Mike! Thanks.
How does it compare to the rigid 5.5hp vac performance wise ?
They both have some nice power. I need to rig up some type of test and see.
I fail to see how this is any different from patching with wood which would have been much stronger,,i had the hole cut out just put plywood in????
This is probably the easiest for a homeowner to do. Plywood is a good option too.
great video. I love the bench setup with the pegboard, shadow board with the lights above. Just building a garage now and will do the same in mine.
That's cool, thanks for sharing. I have all my favorite tools within reach in my work corner.
Dewalt wont make any hybrid vacs like any of the current corded ones they sell, the current corded ones are made by alton not dewalt. Although a 2x20v or a 60v 8 gallon actually made by dewalt wouldn't suprise me in 2 years or less
That would be interesting to see.
Most well built shop vac too, i hit mine with a kubota rtv diesel doing like 30kmh and it bent the god damn bumper and didnt do anything to the shop vac
Wow, that's amazing!
Don't get me wrong I'm getting one but there should also be a line on the back of remote that the laser stops on🤷♂️
After 2 years, you need to change the battery, which cost the same price of a brand new splitter......
Cool ❤❤❤😂😂😂😂😂
Cord only ?
Yes. It would be nice as a hybrid design, but I'll probably keep this in the same spot in my shop, where it may not be a big deal to have battery power.
Looks like it would be a beast at the camp site this summer.
How many 16 oz coke bottles will fit ?
Good video... although i had a very difficult time paying attention since you had the top on backwards the whole time 😂😂
Thanks, I just lined up the tabs but didn't pay close attention. 😂🤷♂️
Awesome review! Of all of my shop vacs, this is my favorite!
Glad to hear it, Jenny! I'm very impressed with it so far.
Don’t change blades with battery in. You know better.
Yes, you are correct!👍
Always enjoy your outside videos Mark. Your property is so nice. The colors your video captured in the sky @ 10:04, were awesome. 👍
Glad to hear i!. My favorite time to start recording videos is about an hour before sunset.
Mark Thomas! That DeWalt Vac really sux! 😯 😆 But will it pick up a tape measure??? 🤔 Seriously, it IS VERY quiet, and that counts for a lot. But I gotta say, I’m still waiting for a Manufacturer to design a really usable AND convenient, and yes, quieter Vac! Love my RIDGID Vacs, but they are LOUD, and one that is my workhorse, is so darn bulky and awkward to maneuver at times. My thoughts on this DeWalt model is it seems to be ‘half baked’ in design? Tiny wheels, and no locking casters, and fiddly hose wrap, and no real way to properly store the extension tubes. And it ‘looks’ top heavy? A video, even as good as Yours Mark, cant always convey how the actual unit is or feels. Just sharing my thoughts, FWIW? It is very quiet, and performs well. I will add for viewers out there: If a person is using a Shop Vac a lot, and picking up liquids as well as dry, try to have two vacs; Use one for dry, and one for liquid. No matter how much you clean your vac after picking up liquids, it will always have that ‘smell,’ when using it, and can be offensive in a Customer’s Home, or a place of Business. Just a little tip. I think a follow up video is in order after You have used this for a few months Mark? Take care, stay safe and well! 👍💪😊
Lots of good points you made there, George. I'll have to try it some more to see if it's top heavy. Years ago I had a top heavy wet/dry vac that I bought at Builders Square. It was always tipping over as I tried to pull it around my garage.😬.
You got the motor unit on backwards lol
Oh man!🤦♂️
I might buy one of those
Turn it around to hear the true noise.
Question of the day: What's the most important feature you look for in a wet/dry vac?
Performance Quieter is always nice… Ease of Tool and hose storage Value
@@georgedavall9449 Those are all great points, George!
When’s the upcoming livestream Mark Thomas
I'm hoping for this Tuesday or Thursday. Are you around?
@@MarkThomasBuilder I am
Thanks for your review and it sold me
You bet, glad to hear it!
My Ridgid is definitely too loud. Might pick one of these up!
It's definitely easy on the ears. At some point I plan to see if can run off my M18 power supply, in case you need cordless type setup.
Hey hey Jim! I have three, and I know what You mean! But I love them, cuz they suck, up stuff! I’m still waiting for someone to really design a modern, well thought out Vac, and one that is not priced in the FEIN, or BOSCH’s stratosphere! Stay safe and well! 👍🙏😊
