You’d be better served to make your own water. It’s cleaner, and less chance to introduce bacteria or unwanted nutrients.

my dad had an African yellow belly blue tang in a 180-gallon aquarium that lived for almost 20 years (it jumped likely due to being stung by an anemone). In the right conditions, most fish can live beyond their estimated life span. Great video!

Hey, I'm just wondering if you've considered adding a roller mat to replace the filter socks. Can't say I've ever been a fan of replacing them, and the rollers work so well. Makes the Red Sea tanks a little more appealing, but I'm a big fan of the Allunimunum framing in the Cade tanks (the current tank is badly water damaged).

Hi mate, I have considered it in the past but ultimately decided to pass on them. I found my current regime of using filter wool inside of filter cup holders produced clear enough water that I was satisfied with. I find with filter rollers there is so many mechanical parts and sensors that trouble-shooting would be a pain if something were to go wrong.

The tanks coming along nicely! I thought that algae may have been dinos?! The macro algae in my tank is so efficient it's allowing dinos to creep in because nutrient levels are so low.

No nutrient issues so far. I’m running the water level in the skimmer at the lowest possible level it can go, so I get a slow and dry skim. How many fish do you have?

Green Cyanobacteria is what is growing on your sand bed. It’s a bacteria not an algae. I think it’s sometimes part of the ugly phase and as the tank matures should go away on its own, just keep manually removing as much as you can. If it doesn’t eventually go away or just gets worse there are chemicals you can dose to kill it off. However if the root of the problem isn’t fixed there is a chance it will come back.

Have the same size tank but more rock. Is more rock necessary or is it an old theory?

In my experience there is no harm in having more rock unless it blocks flow which causes detritus build up. I don’t have much rock, but I do have almost 1kg of bio media in one of the chambers! If you’re wanting to take rocks out just make sure you’re adding more bio media to compensate

I bought a second hand 350 for the express purpose of setting up a bigger freshwater tank. About 2 yrs ago, I got so sick of the maintenance on my tanks that I thought about packing it all in, tried a version of the Walstad method and it literally saved the hobby for me. Simpler is better for me I've found

Im going through the same thing now mate... ive got my tank as it is now on my channel if you wanna see. I really love all the corals and the fish, but physically dont have the time, as you can tell about the cyanobacteria all over and i physically hate handling corals especially the soft corals the smell is unbearable to me and seems to stay on your skin no matter how much you wash it. Ive had hippo tang for nearly 3 years... i dont want to get rid of it but its difficult.

Im going through the same thing now mate... ive got my tank as it is now on my channel if you wanna see. I really love all the corals and the fish, but physically dont have the time, as you can tell about the cyanobacteria all over and i physically hate handling corals especially the soft corals the smell is unbearable to me and seems to stay on your skin no matter how much you wash it. Ive had hippo tang for nearly 3 years... i dont want to get rid of it but its difficult.
My question is does the bubble trap trap all the Pods that you would want to go to you tank?
