Have the same size tank but more rock. Is more rock necessary or is it an old theory?

In my experience there is no harm in having more rock unless it blocks flow which causes detritus build up. I don’t have much rock, but I do have almost 1kg of bio media in one of the chambers! If you’re wanting to take rocks out just make sure you’re adding more bio media to compensate
